So how does the No. 1 Sports Talk show host in Chicago radio for nearly two decades become a professional sports handicapper?
Well he was never the #1 host, but Mike tried by screwing as many people as he could and refusing help from people that maybe could have got him him there. I dont know if that is really a remedy for greatness though.



Simply put, I am the American Dream come true.
Dats right, had a great paying job, walked away from more big money so i could work six jobs to earn less then a 1/4 of what I was making last year, I am da american dope or maybe just the town joke. What he makes is his business, I dont care, but how that is the american dream is beyond me


It's a dream that over 40 years has taken me from my humble start in the sports world as a hot dog vendor at Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park to the most recognizable sports talk radio personality in the Windy City.
Yes, dont make fun of me by calling me the hot dog guy, but watch my stupid ass spin it.



Bottom Line: I epitomize what happens when you accept nothing less than 125% of your best every time you step to the plate, or in my case, the microphone.
First of all, like mike can even spell "epitomize', secondly, where was the 125% when he was mailing it in over the last 3 years of the MNMS?

Yes, I sold dogs at Wrigley and Comiskey 40 years ago. And after a stint in the military and a handful of jobs with the City of Chicago, my wife (Bebe) and I opened our own hot dog stand, Be-Be's, in 1985.

Located around the corner from WXRT-FM and WSBC-AM, the owners and staff management were frequent customers. After a number of 'dogs' and a side order of convincing, I launched the "NFL Handicap Show" on WSBC-AM in 1990.
I am surprised he didnt say "#1 rated handicap show". He fails to mention that he had to pay to get on the air, where was the convincing, here take my money?


That continued until those same owners launched Chicago's first sports radio station, WSCR-AM, "The Score" Sports Radio where President Danny Lee paired me with former Chicago Bear Dan Jiggetts on the midday show Monday thru Friday.
Yes, they did and once I saw a chance to dump jigs for more money, I did, there is that 125% you were looking for.


My straight-forward style connected with fans and athletes alike and it wasn't long until I became the station's most popular host as well as a lightning rod for sports interest in Chicago.

In addition to my radio career, I've enjoyed a simultaneous successful television career where my weekly sports talk television show aired on WJYS-TV (Channel 62), Chicago's CBS affiliate (WBBM-TV) and then finally CLTV.
Yea, I forgot to mention all those shows were dumped in less then 18 months.



I spent 16 1/2 years at "The Score," leaving in the summer of 2008 when after four years of hosting one of Chicago's top-rated morning shows, I opted to leave radio behind to pursue my true love of handicapping sports.

Was he the most popular? Well, jigs was a ex bear, McNeil had been on radio before, Boers was a writer in the city, so in the start no. At the end, maybe, but as always, that is opinion and I dont think he was.

At no time during any of these posting am I "pissed", North doesnt piss me off, get to me, annoy me or anything, I am simply amused at the lies he tells and sells to others, its that simple. Everytime I read something from his site or listen to his webio, I spend more time laughing then anything.

OK, I'm literally laughing out loud. RPB is dead on regarding Rodeo's near stalkerish obsession/hatred of Nort yet the back and forth between the two is hilarious. I agree with RPB that Rodeo's vendetta oozes out of many of the sentences. It is palpable. Great job Rodeo...and look at it this way, RPB is giving you free psychoanalysis...it just comes with an audience. Hilarious stuff. Almost wet the drawers reading that last exchange.

Dude (RV), you are obsessed with him, and Mike North loves the fact that you are.
Did you ever think some of that stuff is put out there just to get a reaction good or bad out of his audience.

I'll be the first to admit that North is a buffoon, but the fact that you listen religiously to his webio, "only to report for others", and constantly report on his web postings is Stalker-esque. You should have had the balls to stand up to him last Winter when you had the chance, instead of cowering in the corner when he called you out.

why is RV obsessed with north ? he isn't you morons, he has some free time and for comedy's sake he listens to that liars show and reports it here, with comments that most people on this board find funny and true. north is a desperate man. his manhood was taken from him when the score called his bluff and let him walk. now he is doing everything he can to get back in the limelight and some posters here, myself included, are calling him out on his lies. i don't like seeing arrogant pricks get ahead in this world and north fits that description. that is why we bust him when he trys to feed the general public another line of bullshit.

Dude, as you say, I walked right up to North in a park ridge eatery when I saw him 2 weeks after he wanted to sue me (have family in park ridge, not "stalking) and make me live on lower wacker. Dont assume something didnt happen when you dont have the first clue about what in fact did occur. For the record, as long as pappy has some type of gig and I catch some of it, if the stupidity is clear, I will post about it, dont read it if it bothers you, I dont look for accolades for this, its just me calling out a spin master who wants to be patted on the back for a being bad on the radio, webio and soon, tv.

One last thing, I have said a few times the webio is good when he has hood on with him, he also has had a few good solo shows, but he seems to ignore what works and goes back to what he thinks is good, which is actually bad, thats why he gets called out, so I am not always bashing him, maybe 98% of it is. I have always said this, if Pappy could put his ego away, get a solid partner, a real producer and take some advice, I am all for it, but at this point, pigs would fly out my ass before he does that, thats another reason he gets called out. I dont care how much he makes or has made, I dont care about how many houses he has or why he hates paul agase, who is actually a good guy, I simply bring back what I hear, bad or good.

For all of you north fans out, all 3 or 4 of you, chill. Your hero sucks and is in self destruct mode. He is the consummate liar and now a bit player who has become a huge joke.

I just wanna reiterate that I am in favor of the Recaps and thouroughly enertained by RV. I just like to breakdown the breakdown sometimes. North sucks and always has.

The webio updates provide a valuable service. After reading Monday's, I have taken up smoking and also announced that I will not participate in any holiday gift grab bags this year, so that in Mike North's view, I can help make America the great country that it once was.
