CSFMB, It's been a long time since my last confession. About 31 years.
So, it is with a heavy heart that I have to confess. I miss Jay Mariotti. SHARK, GD93, not need to tell me I know he's on that gay show with Woody Paige. That's not what I'm talking about.
I miss seeing his ugly ass mug on the Suntimes website, knowing when I click on his name I'll get offended, pissed, shocked, or just roll my eyes at the guy. I miss reading his absolutely stupid made up names like Blizzard of Oz (which was extremely weak, mind you). I miss his ranting against the Sox and Reinsdorf in general (although some of that I get from BigFan I guess).
I miss Nas's defense of his reporting ethics.
I miss players threatening to kick his ass.
Folks, we need a Mariotti. The Sun Times has such a boring sports page I can't hardly stand it. And the Trib, well, it's just about who's next to get fired or take a retirement package. It's hardly worth the paper it's printed on.

What happened to SHARK?

Mariotti was as big a part of the sports culture as a columnist can become.

I always liked him anyway. I thought he was great with the one weakness being predictabilty. But in a way I liked that too. When a local team would blow a game or a local athlete said something crazy you could count on an Lethal Blade Job the next day when you opened the Sun Times.

Even when he was making fun of my guys it was entertaining i.e. Wood and Prior as Blue Cross and Blue shield.

I won't go so far as to say I miss the guy. I did enjoy some of his columns from time to time. It was just getting increasingly difficult to get through one of his pieces without being reminded that this guy is extremely bitter and had a major bone to pick with all things Reinsdorf. It became really hard to take him seriously at times....

Come on, Couch is a giant whiny pussy. Talk about a nothing columnist. Telander is off his meds, his ramblings are usually nonsense and the amateur team of Mac and North just show how low the Suntimes has gone. Their columnists just plain suck. They should get rid of all of them and bring back Jay. At least he was entertaining and a far better writer than the rest combined.

People hated Mariotti and loved to attack him. Yet you knew they read him because he was always talked about.

I kinda feel the same way, some of you may hate me but if I ever left hear U would be missed grately.

I always liked Mariotti. I never took him so serious like some did in town. I agree with you, the sun-times is zzzzzzzzz w/o him.

Well the Sun-Times may be tits up in a few years anyway. Probably a good idea to move on with his career in some shape or form.
