Is Mayor Daley already in Washington for the inauguration? If so, he better get his ass back here and comfort his troubled city. Let's get the black crepe hung on city buildings and the flags at half-staff. Then, please, Mr. Mayor, a televised address would be in order assuring us that, despite the departure of Dan McNeil from the AM1000 airwaves, city services will continue to be delivered and extra police will be patrolling our streets to put a halt to any potential violence during this highly emotional time. People are drifting about, zombie-like, with no purpose or direction. What Zeppelin tunes should we crank? What Allen Brothers meats should we grill? God help us all!

Mr. Mayor, again, I call on you: HEAL OUR CITY!

Pappy, no question; your trenchant comment harkens back to Meig's Field!

Yeah, I've been having some fun at the expense of you guys who are pretty upset about this. While I'm sticking to my guns that some of this reaction has been WAY over the top, I certainly do sense the incredible amount of Mac man-love here. Some may call it ass-licking, but whatever.

In a way, I do see where you're coming from because I, too, was once a big fan. Listened every day and looked forward to it. When the show was good, it was very good and very entertaining. But then, the ugly side of Mac started taking over and I got real tired of feuds and spats and suspensions and hearing about the latest management meetings. The guy has an incredible self-destructive urge and a need to have to open his yap about anything, everything, and everybody. And I'm not necessarily talking about controversial sports topics, either--that would be fine; that's what he's paid for. I'm talking about purely petty personal shit that I don't care about. In retrospect, I don't think he did himself any favors by coming on this board, either. It was fun at first, but then, when he's got the #1 sports show in the city going for him, he's on here longing for and speculating about reunions with Boers, for example. He never seems happy about where he's at.

Mac is no Mike North for the simple reason Mac cares more about his craft and puts more research and effort into his product, but I see other similar personality traits and they're not becoming. Sometimes, you gotta just shut your mouth about certain things and do your job. Neither one of those guys is very good at that and you see where they both are now.

Anyway, I liked MJH, but when it became MMDJH (Mac, Mac's Demons, Jurko, and Harry), I lost interest. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. With that, I'll step back and let you Macophiles wallow in your misery and hold your torchlight vigils at the ESPN studios or whatever you have planned, but I wouldn't get too upset. I don't believe you've heard the last of Mac.

+1 :thumright:

Couldn't have said it better. I'm sure we won't hear from Mac for quite awhile as it might mess up his free check every week.
