I can't believe my fucking ears! I'm listening to a weepy Mike North saying he is so anguished about turning down the Sox job. He chalks it up to the "dramatically" improved ratings of the morning show. He even said that the reason the Sox are taking so long to name an anouncer is that they've been trying to make it work for him. He said it came down to not wanting to give up the show. All this bullshit while being stroked by Annie, Fred, and Holmes. Plus Holmes announcing the decision during every update like it's a huge story. Finally, he says the CD is selling great, and his "guy" says there's only two left at the local Best Buy. This guy is delusional!

Nope, just a bad spinmaster. I share the rest of your sentiments. The phone BJs Annie, Larry, and Freddy gave Mike sounded pathetic.

just curious, why do you guys listen if it's that bad?
i really can't listen much at all during the day, so i cannot justify bashing anyone until 3:00 or later anyway.

Wouldnt him getting weepy. as North puts it, "the pussafaction" of America. Like I said in a previous post, he got told no way and now they are just doing some PR to make it look like he made the decision.

Like I said in another post I'm a apparently a masochist, or just a glutton for punishment. It's the classic wreck on the highway, and I'm rubberneckin'.

That entire bit is stolen from George Carlin. North likes to pass it off as his own...

Not to be confused with all of those retarded emails that are allegedly by Carlin, of which he has authored none of them.

Don't understand how everyone can listen to the show either, if it's that bad. I may stomach it for no more than 10 minutes, once every two weeks; maybe 3-5 minutes twice a week, if lucky. This morning at about 7'ish I tried, and Anne's news segment was never ending so I turned the dial.

Doug, that's a great question!! I've been reading these posts for over a month now. I believe if Northy was a Democrat there'd be a lot less hatred of him on this board. Yeah, it's said(and sad) that he broke up our old gang during the salad days at the Score. But I think that's just an excuse to rip on him.
Well......... that and his show doesn't really work with Giggles the Newswoman, the real estate game, adopt a stinky dog, etc.

How do you figure? People don’t rip North for being a Repulican. They rip him because his show has gotten progressively worse for years. Do you really believe that if he were pushing the Democratic agenda that people wouldn’t complain about the show not talking sports?

North has reverted back to doing a sports talk show. Fred has taken a larger role and the show is starting to actually take calls from listeners. Remember back when the show started. North said they were just too busy to talk to the listeners and that he didn't have to take call anymore. Well, a few heaping spoonfulls of humility served to him in the form of poor rating books has evidently changed his outlook on things. He's got back to doing sports talk. I'd be willing to bet the sharp ratings spikes were from the shows during the Sox world series run. The next logical step is to let annie go. They gotta find something for uncle fuzzy to do in the summer.

Are those the only reasons? What an unreasonable group of people on this board.

Careful what you wish for...

That's how garbage like "Motor Sports Weekly" gets on the air...

hey now...

Mr President...
While I would agree with you 7 some years ago, after having a roomate from ALABAMA who bled Earnhardt black, I've begun to appreciate 200 mph traffic jams.
While, maybe not the most interesting sports program to watch, it is better than say...i don't know....Blackhawks hockey (though that probably isn't a good arguement anyway). how about mens tennis? or 1st or 2nd day golf coverage? mens volleyball? worlds strongest man competitions?
what else is bad?
Nascar is one of those "things" that unless someone who kind of "knows" what is going on (other than the obvious 300 miles of left turns) and can "teach" you the "game" it will always be a hillbilly moonshine run to you.
that being said, the Engineer in me appreciates the dynamics of the "sport."

not trying to convince you or anything, but maybe watch the Daytona 500 this February with some buds. Pick a few drivers, bet on the race, down some cold ones....and you'll likely find it'll be more enjoyable than say....the Pro Bowl.

my $.02

Holy shit, Doug. Stop yourself right there. I have no interest whatsoever in starting the "is auto-racing a sport" argument. That crap will go on forever. It was more a point of giving Jurko his own show and how I don't see that as a very good idea...

HOLD ON NOW!
i'm not saying it's a sport...
Don't get me wrong....

and Jurko is actually quite decent at running the show....which he doesn't do very well when Mac hands over the reigns from time to time on MJH. Maybe the pre-taped aspect has something to do with it. I'm not really sure.

I'm just saying that NexCar can be interesting if you are willing to give it a chance.
whatever, to each his own I guess.

Nothing like having an occasional Thu & Fri off in the summer, playing 9 holes early in the morning, grilling and watching golf in the afternoon and finishing the day off with a game over at Comiskey.

Yeah, the reason that I could never get into NASCAR is that I really don't give a shite who the hell wins the race. What the hell difference does it make to me if Redneck A beats Redneck B?

I tell you what, if there is an openly gay NASCAR driver, I just might start going to races in pink hot pants with that guy's name written across my luscious ass.
