Not Lupe's Food and Liquor.

If you ever ventured west of the United Center, you would have noticed a neighborhood institution and an eyesore, a building housing a liquor store and a chinese takeout. (NW corner of Damen and Madison) The storied establishment has been demolished this week after the lease ran out and the new owners caved in to pressure from the community organizations and the Ald himself to do something productive with the property. I'm sad to see it gone, but I'm glad it is... and along with it drunk and high adult men relieving themselves in the parking lot.
