What is the deal with North doing that embarassing desert island quiz for every flipping interview he does? He has Devin Hester on today and spends half the interview discussing what famous actress Hester wants to bone. And every answer he gets he's laughing like a hyena at things that aren't funny. Rock any chance you can somehow persuade him to stop embarassing himself like this? He sounds like a fool and it's obvious he uses these canned questions as a crutch because he refuses to do any homework or interview preparation.

Somebody needs to tell North to leave the humor to B&B in the afternoons. Any time North tries to be funny or irreverant, it's goddamn painful to listen to. Stick to sports talk Pappy, it's the one thing you're (supposedly) able to do well.

Mike likes to do this with first time interviewees (sp? or is that even a word??) Personally I think when an athlete needs to think about what he would say and takes forever to do it....that's what makes it drawn out and boring. Devin couldn't think of a CD he'd take to the island......it was a little boring. It's an icebreaker for the first time, and after that you never hear it. It's ok....he trys to be funny with it, but everyone knows he's a 50+ white male and doesn't "get" the younger athletes tastes like everyone else does. The only thing that bothers me is his interviews with athletes are getting shorter and shorter everytime he does em. It's a bitch and a half sometimes to get these people on, and to only get 3-4 mins out of em I think sometimes is a lost cause. Mike has always done his homework on stuff, it's just to some it doesn't show in the quality of work.

Icebreaker? You act like these guys are scared to talk to Pappy. They could give a shit. To them it's just some gumba wannabe idiot. You don't need icebreakers. They're not meeting their girlfriends parents. It's just dumb ole Pappy. Just talk about the game and quit asking them what their favorite plate of food is.

Thats bullshit Rock. Hawkeye hit it on the head about homework and preparation. Mike never prepares. He just asks dumb questions and yells a lot. Mike knows nothin about Hester (nor do I) but the "quiz" is a crutch he can use when he cant think of anything. Jiggs always covered his ass when he had nothing to say or couldnt think of anything.

Mike has apparently never evolved. I remember screan\ming at the radio in the early years. Mike would ask a player what their favoirte video game was too. Who cares? Mike is not a good interviewer. He's shameful and embarrassing. This is a close as it will get to Rock rippinmg on Mike. Rocks a puss!

This moring I was driving home from work and Mike had on D.Copper (whitesox pitching coach). I believe he came into the studio to do a few minutes with North.

If I didn't know who D.Cooper was, I would have thought he teaches pitching at the YMCA. Mike didn't ask one interesting question to Coop. The segement was full of how's your wife and kids, what are you doing with your free time in chicago and crap like that.

I switched to MVP and S&R had on L.Rothchild (Cubs pitching coach) They asked him about Prior and Wood. Rothchild answered Wood is going to the bullpen and Prior will not be penciled in as one of the main 5.

They asked him about Pinella, if the Cubs should trade Zombrano for AROD exc.

Really good stuff.

I turned back WSCR during a commercial and heard a score promo adverstising how they are covering all the Cubs/Pinella stories and had to laugh as MIke came back on with Coop and they talked about the best place to eat a Hot Dog. (Did anyone catch the new hot dog segment they are doing?) Pathetic radio
