SHARK has learned that Beano Cook, a fixture on ESPN/ABC's coverage of college football, has passed away at age 81. That's according to ESPN's Ivan Maisel's Twitter & FangsBites.com, a sports media Web site. Still developing...

Not really. Either dead or not.

Hank, the story is still developing. Beano Cook has died. More details as they become available.

It is true, Hawg. Beano was based in Pittsburgh, and came up with this line many years ago...

Beano: "The Big Ten plus Northwestern."

ESPN's Ivan Maisel says via Twitter Beano died in his sleep.

My wife bought me beano one time, and I tried it. I felt like a duck, meaning no gas would come out. So I just blew up like a balloon. Chili+beano=major internal gas that won't leave.

A cause of death has not been revealed as of yet for Beano Cook. In recent years, according to his Wikipedia page, Beano was a regular on ESPN Radio's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" as well as "All Night with Jason Smith" in addition to ESPNEWS' "Hot List" as a weekly commentator debating a bunch of topics with ex-ESPN anchor Brian Kenny.

Another common phrase Beano always uttered...

Beano: "Haven't they suffered enough?"

That was a common phrase in reference to former MLB Commissioner Bowie Kuhn offering lifetime passes to the returning hostages from the 1980 Iran Hostage Crisis that was huge news back then.

Adamle is white. He's safe over at NBC.

Has Loho checked in today?

LoHo's off the next 2 days from The SCORE. There's "Thursday Night Football" with the Steelers/Titans tonight & Hub Arkush guest hosts Laurence's show tomorrow night.

Truth be told, Mike Adamle isn't getting any younger. I think he's in his early 60s now. :o

Ed Sherman's own sports media Web site has now updated the story regarding the passing of ESPN/ABC college football historian Beano Cook:

Weather is only fun when it's doing something shitty out.

never understood how that old fart was considered an authority on anything...he seemed ancient 20 years ago when he was hyping that ND QB for 3 Heismans before he played a down. I would have thought he was easily in his 90s

He always seemed to be quite the authority on bumbling incoherence. Rest in peace, Beano Cook.

That's going on his headstone.

No, I think this phrase might be more appropriate for Beano Cook:

Cook: "Haven't they suffered enough?"
