Harvey still has a finger in the pie. So does Drew Hayes. So does Rod Zimmerman. So do the Hollander brothers at CBS corporate. Ever hear of too many cooks spoil the broth?

I do have questions.

Question 1- I thought Harvey runs some Newsday , something like that, owned Radio stations (like 9 of them) in Chicago So with the exception of being Annes agent, what does he have to do with CBS?

Question 2- I always remember WSBC had that lame "coach and the Kid" sports show in the morning. Not sure what the range of WSBC is and what they think they are doing, but how does the ownership of the station have a sports show run by the guy who is getting more money from his wife's contract from another station?

Seems to me it is not in his best interest to develop a Sports show that could give North a run for his money?

North might be on a 50,000 watt station, but the production values of the show remind me of my days at Loyola Radio. Actually Loyola Radio is better.

So when Mike's contract is up and he throws down his new demands and WSCR says , Here is $500,000 a year and you will be on the air with whop we say and when. North will for sure reject it

Mike would run to sign the next contract if it is for 500K per year.

I think you are limiting the scope of your question. I believe Mike started doing general topics in order to make himself saleable to a broader group of stations on his next contract. He effectively has used the SCORE as a training ground for the last few years.

GD, I am not so sure. $1.5M v .5K.

You are correct in saying what he SHOULD DO and he should do it because it is still a great living for ding what he loves to do.

He might need a lil ego deflation before it is signed.

Yeah but Big Fan he ain't gonna get a 1.5 million offer ever again. Who's gonna offer that after his pathetic showing? I think 500k is too high for the Score to offer. He's not gonna get that any where else in town either. Why do they have to offer him anything? Just part ways. It should be over. Pappy has enough stored away. He and Be can live on what he stole from the Score for the rest of their lives. Plus he can do the corportate speaking the rest of his life. LOL.

Who will hire this guy? AM1000, no and if they did, wouldnt that make him a liar since all he does is rip ESPN? No other station is going to hire a guy for big bucks that cant produce ratings and he really never has.

His name will get him that? Maybe you're right Nas but I don't get it. He is a classic example of the legend being greater then the man. He's never had off the chart success anywhere. You could get an up and comer to produce his ratings for 100k. Even if that up and comer falls a little short of Pappy's numbers you'll still make a bigger profit because you're not paying an enormous salary. I think there will always be a finite number listening to the Score morning show. Just because people like sports and will listen to anybody.

Who doesn't rip the "other" station

What I meant Nas, is that if he even approached them for a job, because of his constant bashing of ESPN, that would make him a hypocrite.

That never stopped any radio guy. They bash them until contracts come up and then they use them as leverage. They'll all go to the highest bidder and then rip the other station once they leave. Sure they're hypocrits but that doesn't matter to them.

Sure I agree with that, but there will be no bididng war over Mike North, do you honestly believe that AM1000 and lets say, WGN will battle for this guy. I just believe that he wont see a radio gig for a long time in this city.

No I don't. I said that already. Nas seems to think so. Plus what drive time slot could he possibly get. That's where the high paid guys go. He won't go back to Score afternoons. B&B found a nitch better then Pappy did when he had it. He won't go to mornings or afternoons at ESPN 1000. Mike and Mike beat him already and MJH are going no where. WLS doesn't need him. I guess WCKG mornings but that's CBS owned and why would they move him from one failed attempt to another spot in the company? The way I see it he has no leverage

The only thing I can think locally is ESPN 1000 who may be sick of the Salisbury/Rosenbloom show by the time North's contract is done - maybe the 9-12 slot there for a lot less money, and that way the station could also promote it's committment to local guys with somebody like North ????

What scares me is that North is going to try and line himself up with a partner and if MJH starts to lose steam, I get this feeling that a Mac and North show could happen. DOnt know why, I just have a feeling.

Wells runs Commie AM850, the Chicago affiliate of the Air Hate America network, which unsurprisingly, has filed for bankruptcy protection.

John Cohen, the coach, is on AM1240 from 10-12 in the morning.

I liked listening to North, but since he announced HIS decision to return the middle aged ditz back to her former status that fateful day at 6:16 in the morning, I haven't heard a word of it.

IMO, not a chance. If Mac couldn't work with Hanley, he couldn't work with North!

Mac will never work with North.

WCKG would die for a guy like north. He would bring them a great demographic as a lead in to the Dahl show. North has been angling for CKG for a while in my opinion, by buddying up to Dahl. Opie and Anthony, North and then Dahl would be a decent recovery for CKG from the depths they have achieved.

He has been doing it for several years.

What do I expect? I guess I expect him to stick to talking sports on an all sports station. Hell, Dahl even tried talking sports when he was on MVP.

I am sure he could end up at wckg, but nowhere close to the money he is making now and that will be the stumbling block because his ego isnt going to allow him to take a paycut, there is just no way.

Also, if Spaceball ends up back at the Score, which I think could happen, he will do whatever it takes to reup Mike. I dont have peeps, but just be a fan of talk radio, it common knowledge that these guys come and go and come back often.

I somewhat disagree with you here GD. IMO, North moved toward general topics because he listens to his heros such as O'Reilly & Rush and thinks he can do the same thing. Especially given that his friends are all like-minded simpletons who agree with all of his ridiculous statements. His massive ego led him to believe that his views are informed, interesting & entertaining. Unfortunately for us, he was wrong on all counts.

I agree Zippy, that he is attempting to emulate their paths to riches. However, it is the riches that are fueling the change in style, not the desire to be a political commentator.

Mike may try to act like Limbaugh on the radio, but he is really more like Ditka. He will endorse/espouse any product, view or idea that will result in even the smallest increase in financial gain.

North does not really believe what he says because he never takes time to think about his statements in advance or evaluate them after they are said. He lives life eternally in the moment.
