Dr Who's Dalek creator Ray Cusick dies aged 84

Ray Cusick, the man who designed the Daleks for the BBC's Doctor Who, has died after suffering heart failure in his sleep.

Mr Cusick, who died aged 84, was asked in 1963 to create an alien race for new TV show Doctor Who.

The villains proved a big hit among viewers and remain an important part of the show today. Their electronic command of 'exterminate' became a cultural staple.
