The Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox released a statement Monday regarding the death of Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf's son, David.

"The Reinsdorf family has suffered a terrible loss today with the untimely passing of son David Reinsdorf, age 51," the statement read. "Jerry, Martyl and the entire Reinsdorf family appreciate the sympathetic thoughts and prayers from all of their friends and acquaintances, however, the family members do request privacy and your understanding at this time as they deal with this very personal loss."

No other details were released.

My heart goes out to that family. Nothing worse then losing a Son or Daughter.

Jerry Reinsdorf's son David dies at 51
March 03, 2014

David J. Reinsdorf, a local real estate executive and son of Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, died today at age 51, the family announced.

David Reinsdorf was one of the renowned team owner's four children and had served as senior vice president of asset management at Northbrook-based Michigan Avenue Real Estate Group since 2006.

The Reinsdorf family released a statement on the news:

"The Reinsdorf family has suffered a terrible loss today with the untimely passing of son David Reinsdorf, age 51. Jerry, Martyl and the entire Reinsdorf family appreciate the sympathetic thoughts and prayers from all of their friends and acquaintances, however the family members do request privacy and your understanding at this time as they deal with this very personal loss."

A White Sox spokeswoman did not have more details on how Mr. Reinsdorf died.

David Reinsdorf spent 20 years in the residential real estate business and previously was an assistant vice president at LaSalle National Bank in Chicago, according to his company profile.

His younger brother, Michael, is president and chief operating officer of the Bulls.
