Owner of many good standardbreds including his namesake, the great Adios Vic. At the time he raced, Bret Hanover was widely considered the greatest pacer to ever look through a bridle. Some people would still make that argument. (I'm a Niatross guy, myself.) Vic was the only horse to beat Bret more than once. He did it four times. Quite a feat when you consider Bret only lost six times in a three year career that covered 68 races.

When Bret got to the front on the twice-arounds he simply could not be caught. But when they got on the big Midwestern fair tracks at Springfield and Indianapolis, Vic was a force to be reckoned with. That little colt could absolutely fly down the stretch.

Vic was the first horse to beat Bret, snapping the 35 race winning streak that began his career. If that wasn't good enough, Vic also snapped the 21 race winning streak of Triple Crown winner Romeo Hanover, going a buck and a quarter at Yonkers.

“Excuse me, but I couldn’t help but notice that you’re attractive. I’m in town from New York, visiting a friend, and I was hoping you’d be willing to show me around.”
