He was at the game with his nephew, so I'd imagine he watched some of it and walked around with the kid.

For those who weren't listening, our boy Steve was upset that Sveum was using his starters too long, not going to the pen quick enough.

Mac then correctly mentioned that the Cubs bullpen sucks outside of the closer, and the Speigs went on to mention some stats about how the Cubs are dead last (tied with Houston) in MLB for blown saves by the bullpen-- not just the closer but the entire bullpen. Cubs are 10-20 in that regard.

Yeah, Steve! You are right! Get them starters out of there quicker so the Cubs can lose more games you stupid ass.

I heard what seemed like the last 2/3 or 3/4 of his call, but he said Sveum isn't a guy who knows how to handle the pitching staff. Wood struggled and was in too long the other day. A guy was ready yesterday in the pen, wasn't brought in right away. Villanueava (who STARTED 3 days ago) is in the pen, use him.

Just total idiocy out of him.

So Mac is going all Bernstein with the whole why are Hawks fans so defensive of any criticism regarding Toews? Pardon me but seems like all Hawks fans I talk to are pretty much unified in saying Toews has been awful in these playoffs and needs to step it up. I dont hear or see anyone defending him. No, my comments were concerning Sveum's use of the bullpen arms. Pulling Garza when they did was the right thing to do. I questioned why they didn't go to Villanueva to start the 6th and go a couple innings in relief. He had 3 days since since his start and if he's gonna be used out of the pen, why not then? Also, in Travis Wood's last start Sveum left Wood in too long. Wood had struggled to get out of the 6th and it was pretty clear that he was done. yet Sveum left him in for the 7th inning and he gave up the tying runs. I am beginning to question whether Sveum can handle a pitching staff well. I know the Cubs bullpen has been awful, but it goes deeper than that.

He was responding to cpguy in that post actually. But cpguy and I were in agreement about using Villanueva over Rondon and Camp in that situation. Camp, Marmol and Rondon cannot be trusted in situations where a win is on the line.

Defending Sveum use of Rondon and Camp makes you the ugly, smelly dumbass.
