This.

They even tried to tailor categories to each person's strenths and Les still got destroyed in "his" categories.

When does Les sleep? Wasn't he up during his bedtime for this one?

I'm pretty sure years back les did a 10pm-5am shift then drove up to Milwaukee to get Manny Ramirez tape b4 a 1pm first pitch... And that means it was a Wednesday or Thursday so he had to work overnights again.

But yeah, shit, listening now and I'm already making excuses for my guy Les... There's a reason that Shep gets those car commercial reads you know.

Edit: first question Shep chimed in halfway through the question. Lol

One of the few times I have actually pulled up the website to listen to a segment. Agreed the fast buzz in doesn't fit for Les.

Les is not at all knowledgeable.

He's been around a lot and seen a lot and remembers almost none of it correctly.

Drunken overnight callers are impressed that he remembers the name of a bench player from the 78 Lakers but he if you asked him what Magic Johnson's real name is, he'd say "Earl"

And when corrected by the rare sober overnight caller, he gets very testy.

Best Les moment ever

Les: and this texter says Joakim Noah has a sore camel toe. Not sure what camels have to do with anything, lets keep it moving.

Also his back and forth with Mac about the Stones was all time great radio.

Les seems like a nice guy.

You could have given him a half hour for each question and he'd have still got killed.

Even the ones he had some time, he was way wrong.

Question: Who led the 2016 Cubs in saves?
Schep: Hector Rondon
Parkins: Correct
Les: Shows you how bad that bullpen was...
Parkins: 'Til they got Chapman
Les: Yeah, but he doesn't count
Mac: Why?
Les: He wasn't here in the regular season...

 :?:

I love Les, but WTF

Actually, they were repeating what they had just said. Les said that AFTER Parkins pointed out Chapman had 16.

You are correct sir.

See, fun segments like that are what make a show great. This is why Mac & Spiegs are in the afternoon drive.

it was almost like les was stoned out of his gourd for this quiz. i think he felt the pressure (as remember parko or someone bestowed a title like "de-facto champion" on him early in the segment) and shep cutting off the first question to jump in real quick got les to jump out similarly in the second question and screw it up... then once he got buried by shep he was feeling the pressure and he choked.

also i think les is more of a tangential-knowledge type than a trivia type. as it's been stated on here countless times (let alone on clips/drops on other shows) les will often blur/fudge-up little names like eldred woods, but as you could hear during the segment he was keen to tack on little tangential facts after shep nailed another question. prolly an issue of pride to a certain extent cuz hoooo boy that was an old fashioned whoopin like they'd say in the old country.

NUH UH! the NBA CONFERENCE FINALS are going on and we need more talk about a big black stud like lebron getting wangwhipped by brad stevens and his students of the game.... and of course the socioeconomic ramifications of the NBA avoiding a 4th consecutive warriors/cavs NBA finals and how that familiarity breeds contempt in racist hockey fans who don't miss dustin byfuglien as much as they should!

(yeah i got nothing on the b&g strawman here cuz i didn't stay tuned in long enough to hear a lot of the racial/NBA talk =)

McNeil and Parkins and McKnight and Bernstein all seem to be very happy that Shepkowski won. Les must not be too popular at the station.

Kind of like when North beat Tom Shaer in a similar contest back in the day.

Bernstein is so whipped right now. He went on and on about how great this segment was, and how it's the most interesting radio he's heard in a long time. He was texting everyone involved through out it because he was so entertained.

I was watching on the Facebook video stream and Les seemed out of his comfort zone. Overnights VS drive time is a whole different game. I bet he would do better in a rematch.
