Another great job by Vandy today filling in for Mac! This guy needs more airtime.

His hate for St. Louis just makes me love him even more!

Even in spite of said hate for St. Louis, I still thought he was a good listen...

Thanks for picking up the torch today.

I tuned in just after 11. It's been great.

St. Louis = Illinois's basement

I now understand all the STL love.

Lipid is now out of the basement, I do not support any basement jokes.

I've heard Vandy several times. I cannot remember anything about his style or content.

It was good to hear a longtime "friend of the program" sitting in this morning with Spiegs on "The Danny Mac Show". Whenever Mac's away, SCORE Operations Director Drew Hayes should have Vandy sitting in with Spiegs more often.

With all this talent not being used I think it's time for a 3rd sports talk station in town!

It might not to be a controversy-inducing billboard on the Kennedy, but caught this sign on the way home today:

If only there were enough listeners to support the current 2 sports talk stations.

dolphin, what is it that you like about meatpant's style or content. I like him and like him on other shows he has done in the past 6 mo but more often than not I get irritated with him. I think he tries too hard and takes on (sometimes annoying) characteristics of his co hosts.

You can hate something and not be a meatball.

He sounds a bit like Mike Mulligan. If they did a show together, they'd sound like each other.

I don't get to listen to Mac and Meat very often for professional reasons.

I don't think it is any suprise that I was a major advocate for the original pairing. In my more intensive listenings to Meat he displayed a wide and deep knowledge of baseball both past and present. He showed an attention to detail, planning and research. He was a student of both baseball and basketball. He also had an enjoyable personality and delivery with interests beyond sports. I also trust Dan's opinion of a guy who was his former producer during the hey day of HFC.

I have seen several people on here whose opinions I trust contradict these observations since he arrived. I am open to the possibility that things changed. In my limited listenings I have not heard it, but there have been some ponderous paraphrases of what Meat has said. I would also leave the possiblity open that the change in location, station and teaming has required some re orienting.
