On the 1985 Super Bowl-winning Bears, Plank was the inspiration for the 46 defense, which was devised by Ryan's father Buddy. Appearing Monday on "The Danny Mac Show" on WSCR-AM 670, Plank said he would relish a chance to coach for the Bears.
"One thing that I feel like I've been able to bring through my coaching career, whether it was in the Arena League or here in the National Football League, is success. You know last year I was with the Falcons. We went to the playoffs at 11-5, and I like to feel that I contributed something toward this Jets season, in terms of confidence and just playing with a swagger. So I'm just looking for an opportunity, I guess."

Plank, who coached the Jets' defensive backs, was fired. Assistant quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, special-teams coach Kevin O'Dea and defensive quality control coach Brian Smith had expiring contracts that weren't renewed and pass-rushing consultant Chuck Smith took a job at the University of Tennessee, a Jets spokesman confirmed.

Yeah, they were getting burned almost every week with those deep passes... oh wait, they were the best team in the league versus the pass this season? By 31 yards per game to the next best team? Almost 20% better than the next best team? J-E-T-S!

I'll bet Plank is in Lake Forest next week for an interview. Not saying I think he's the right guy for the Bears DC, but who the hell else is left???

Why don't you finally wake up and sit back and LAUGH at the idiot Bears?
Enjoy them for the Addams Family they truly are.

All he does is win! Arena ball!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, the Falcons and Jets disagree.

plank must be pretty stupid because he could have spent the last 20 years in chicago raking in endorsements, speeches, etc.

I wonder if he sold his vast Wendy's empire in AZ before the Sunbelt bubble burst...or the value menu sliced and diced his mammoth profits?

No, but Plank made it fairly obvious that he wasn't coming back to the Jets.
