Your disagreement with Laurence is a perfect example of why people just don't like the guy.

It's not that he doesn't care for the 85 bears, it's his smug, slow responses of "Yeah, not so much". It is the same responses he gives to that confusing sport of tailgating and then the gross ogor like activity of doing shots.

I know it's Harry, but when he said the guy has offered him a shot a few times, it's just Harrys way of being nice. You might not like shots, you might not like Harry, you might not even drink, but the guy is just trying to be nice in his own way and Laurence feels the need to give us the "Yeahhhh". Then my favorite is"If anyone knows me, they know I don't do shots" (OK, let me write that down in my "THINGS LOHO LIKES AND DISLIKES NOTEBOOK")

And how many times has Laurence told us about guys he has worked with and would like to smash that guys face??? Not saying that doesn't happen, as I would like to smash 1 or 2 faces, but I don't have mutilple pages of guys I want to smashadaface.

I do not doubt LoHo does everything he can to be a good teammate and cohost. I have even said he isnt that bad when he is on with you or others, as you recognize that some of his personal shit and snobby remarks, might not be the path to travel down for ths show and the subject gets cut quickly.

Sometimes, someone just isnt cut out for the job they want and this is the case. Time for the Score to make the change.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS (Old Swirsky?) it's time for Goff to get the evening show and Laurence can go back to filling in and reporting.

I think this DDD guy might be infringin' on my trademark. I'll have to check with my legal counsel. In the meantime, let me show you how it's done:

There’s a radio station in Chicago where a young black fellow with a toothy grin is cookin’ up some sports talk with a twist. He hates the ’85 Bears and tailgatin'. But folks in Chicago love tunin’ in to try his delicious alternatives- comic books, old school hip hop, and idle threats of punches to the face. His mom may call him Laurence, but the locals simply refer to him as “SHAKE THAT!”

Laurence has more threads on this board than any other host.

Why is RPB always defending Laurence? Is Shake That really just another one of Rogers' many mults?

for me it's summed up when during one show where laurence was on a remote or reporting from the field he made a remark about how whatever-it-was isn't going to happen when he's back in the studio "BECAUSE I'LL HIT HIM!"

maybe this is just rosy colored glasses, but i remembered liking the me & z show on weekends years back, then it became the me show. then it became hamp and holmes during the weekdays, then it finally ended up becoming SHAKE THAT. it's been a devolution for laurence because i really think he thinks that he has something to prove. to who? i would assume that it's the whole world at large.

also when he ogles over women on air, that's kind of creepy... especially when he forces in the dramatic pauses and "look at me i'm a seasoned radio veteran" vocal inflection.

"Me and Z" made me want to punch two guys in the face.

just imagine if they started the brand back up with holmes and zaidman. that'd be appointment radio for the board, akin to the dedicated few who listen to pappy in the name of fun-bad.

My first experience with Chicago sports talk was the Me Show. After growing up on Boston/New York radio, where they are mostly loud-mouth dbags, but they know their shit. I thought Holmes was a producer that they had just thrown into his first on-air gig. He was talking about things that were irrelevant to sports. Hasn't changed much.

Last time you two tailgated, was there a tv playing video of random extreme sports in the background?

I understand the temptation to become Bernstein from Larry's perspective. He sees what he does. He sees his 10-year success. He sees his 400k or so. Plus it's fun to do it like Bernstein. It's fun to say "fuck you" to everybody. So he figures, wow, I'll just be him and success and fortune will happen for me.

Not so easy. Everybody can see through Larry. Nobody likes a phony. Plus Bernstein is way more genuine than him. Bernstein actually is an elitist snob. Bernstein was that way from the beginning. When Bernstein came out of the womb he looked at the Doctor and asked to see his credentials before he allowed him to cut the umbilical cord.

Larry wasn't an elistist snob before he was around Bernstein. He came from blue collar high school teachers, right? Went to Depaul, certainly not elite college. If you actually hear him talk on things you know he's not very bright. So it's tough to pull off the elitist snob when the listeners know you're not smart. Everybody knows Bernstein is smart. That's why he can do what he does. Bernstein has a skill in what he does. He can defend everything he says. Even if it's bullshit he'll try to sell it to you with skill. Larry just repeats, but if you challenge him on something he'll back down cuz he can't defend stuff that he actually doesn't believe or know how to defend.

I think part of the problem is nobody at the station calls Larry out on this. They've created this monster by allowing him to get this deep. Now Larry is way in over his head and can't recover. This board can't be the only people that see through him. No way. Mac has to see through it as well.

Right before he dropped off the planet, Mike North shared the same honor - doesn't say much.

Mike North used to post here?

Or, if it becomes obvious that he's wrong, he'll just blow it off by saying, "I'm an idiot" as if all the VITRIOL spent defending an untenable position didn't mean a thing.

There's a certain baseline of intelligence one must have to be an elitist. bernstein certainly meets the criteria. But he's no Bruce Wolf.

Acting like a mini Bernstein is a recipe for disaster. I think Bernstein pulls it off on only because espn has such a bad program against B&B. When mjh was on, I never listened to B&B. There is no alternative right now.

I agree with the comment that goff should be on the air in loho's place. I find goff to be genuine and quite funny. Some hosts take contrived positions just to work up the audience. I prefer Mac and goff's style. When they state an opinion, it seems like they truly believe it.

Terry is uniformed and lazy.
Bernstein is a listener baiter. Arrogant to the core.
Loho, well I don't quite know yet because he is tough to listen to. The sample size is too small for me.

Mac, goff, and meat pants all seem real to me.

I like Laurence. I'm entertained when I listen. Doesn't matter for what reasons really in my mind. Better than anything on ESPN.

What is the racial issue with Loho?

When he is black he is HOLMES 'Wassup Holmes", thats when he went to talk with some of his black athlete buddies.
When he is white he is Laurence and he is the son of 2 teachers and very well edcuated.
No issues at all.

Is it the same with the ladies? Is it "How are you, my dear?" to Paula Faris and "Wassup boo?" to Alison Payne?

I acutally think the racial issue might come with his white co hosts. They're scared to call him out on this "Bernstein act" cuz they think that he might think they're racist if they do. White guilt.

He is radio Eddie Haskell. Should not be hosting....should be Bears reporter.

I would also say he is radio Jim Hendry. Currently in a job and not that great at it. Yet continues to be given chance after chance.
