Spiegel will be on his best behavior on air today as he wants to still cash his checks and not end up like Goff

Does Speigs really drive a RR? I figure him more of a Dodge Journey (Blacktop Edition)

Spiegel and Parkins should still be a pair during middays. McNeil and Bernstein in the afternoons.

Interesting Goff wasn't given the same soft landing as Spiegel.

Goff was the one who had to be removed from the lineup. Spiegel was just an odd man out.

Hopefully Spiegel gets his chance with a fifth partner or a second time with an old partner in order to prove that he was that valuable. I'm sure it will work this time.

Was Goff offered anything and he turned it down? Wondered if he did not want to be quiet but rather move onto the next gig.

Probably helps his cause that outside of one snarky comment about McNeil, Spiegs handled his demotion fairly well. I'm guessing if he went on Twitter and called Jimmy DeCastro a liar he probably wouldn't be on the air today.

Given how he felt about being taken off the air for 30 days and then having his contract terminated I doubt he turned down anything.

Did that happen before he knew he was off the air for good?

I don't think anyone on this board knows the answer to that, but regardless his public reaction was very poor and likely burned any bridge left at 670.

Whatever it takes to keep Jules off a daytime show is fine by me. They actually had an interesting discussion on whether Darvish is hurt or being a giant pussy.

It's not interesting at all. Goff was horrible in the afternoon slot and dragged down the ratings of the show. Spiegel and Parkins was a successful show and was winning their time slot. Like CH said, Spiegel was the odd man out. Spiegel didn't have to be replaced.

Harkins, the name is Guaranteed Rate Field or Comiskey Park... not Sox Park. UnderSHtand ?

Drop the smarmy attitude regarding The Southside, Franchise Boy.

Now go home and get your sandwich board.

It’s only interesting if you wish to have a pages long discussion about how Goff got racially screwed over.

Spiegel and Parkins was so successful they ended it. It also appears that Bernstein and McKnight are easily winning the same timeslot so I don't think it was the greatness of Spiegel there.

I don't think Goff got screwed over. The show wasn't working. It's just interesting that people were calling this from the day they were both removed from the shows.

Afternoon show > midday show

That's why the show was ended. DeCastro needed to repair all the damage done from B&G and Parkins is the best host on the Score. Spiegel was launched since a) he wouldn't mesh with Bernstein, b) DeCastro wanted his boy, and c) replacing Speigel gave DeCastro cover in the race issue of firing Goff.

Spiegel and Goff were doing well in the ratings too. In fact, they were so well Goff got the promotion that Parkins then got.

Once again, Goff deserved what he got. Why was Spiegel not in the same situation? None of those answers explain it.

Spiegel fares better as a solo host than he does working with a partner. Having an interlocutor seems to foreground his narcissism, insecurity and petty malevolence. He enjoys trying to humiliate others, something that makes him an intolerable, unprofessional, and unbearable radio partner. In contrast, the logistical demands involved with flying solo somehow disguise his wanton character flaws, smooth out the rough edges created by his evident personality disorder, and render him a much easier listen.
