I'd cut her some slack, depending on the position.

Yeah, they were all in church yesterday and today they're back out there flim-flamming and ripping depressed people on message boards.

I need to listen to that podcast, but the rehab thing is great to here. I bet he attended the same program that Tiny did which is an excellent place. It would be quite a site to see those two attending aftercare together. The program is technically "outpatient" but it is very intensive.

It is a very brave thing to do, especially considering that you are on the radio. All the people that are talking shit are insecure little dicks... even if you dislike the guy you can still make the choice to keep your mouth shut or say something semi-nice. But you cannot, because your self-esteem is low and you have the mentality of a 13 year old who still calls things ("gay")

So weed is bad for people again? Is that official board position again? (sorry BRick, I waited long enough for you to jump on that :P ).

Also - I stopped listening after the first commercial break - did we find out if Mac was busted for DUI/Caffeine? That's understood to be more dangerous.

Edit: Whoops. I misunderstood you Franky T. My apologies. Sorry I get worked up over this stuff. Mental Health is serious shit, left untreated it can kill just like any other disease.

What are you talking about?

How does Mac's issue tell you anything like or about that?

Weed is safer than booze but neither should be overdone, regardless of Mac.

I think you misunderstood Franky T's post. I think he meant, he doesn't understand why people announce how little they listen to the show or their future listening habits, like Pappy's Crappy did.

Well, if you were listening, you heard Mac say that substance abuse was part of the problem. Weed was the first substance he referenced, and the one he/they referenced the most. He said he no longer can partake in that.

I take that to mean it must be bad for a person. His "nine person medical team" obviously agrees as it was part of his therapy/recovery.

Do you think caffeine is good for depression?

No idea. But I've been taught how dangerous it is for people to drive after having coffee.

You really think the reason some drugs are illegal and others are not is based on how dangerous they are? If caffeine affects one's central nervous system (and it's a FACT that it does) how can it be that it has no effect on one's motor skills? The truth is, it does. You simply find it acceptable because it's always been acceptable and the reverse is true for marijuana. Drunk driving wan't always viewed the way it is now. Smoking cigarettes wasn't always forbidden in public places. These are social mores totally divorced from any dangers.

Ok?

No one was saying Weed is a vitamin and part of a nutricious breakfast.

Its just not as bad as booze.

And if a team of doctors reccommended someone get off caffiene what would that mean to you?

JORR, I'm totally agreeing with you. People driving half-ton pieces of steel at high rates of speed should never, ever have their central nervous systems awakened or alert at any time. I prefer groggy, delayed reactions due to stress, malnourishment, and lack of sleep.

I'd probably understand that it was bad for me and stop doing it. If teams of doctors taught me ahead of time that it was that bad for me, I probably wouldn't do it in the first place.

I've seen many docs/nurses/etc. consuming actual caffeine - while on the job. It's a crazy, crazy world out there. Be careful.

edit - no role. Just pointing out that, again, it's been "proven" that weed is bad for people. That's all.

Ok, so your comparitive point that Mac's doctors told him to stop smoking weed really means nothing, since Dr's order people off caffiene all the time.

Got it.

Obviously Weed is not as bad as booze for most people. However, it is not a good thing to use for many with depression and or anxiety issues in an attempt to self-medicate them. For many people, over time it ends up creating lots of anxiety. Booze can do the exact same, as can any other substance. Gambling can create highs and lows. Everything has to be done in moderation, and some people struggle doing this.

If Mac is being treated for depression and substance issues, it is best he takes at least some time off from everything just to get his bearings straight. It might just be easier for Mac to not use anything.

Don't doubt it. Medical professionals see a guy like Mac with all his baggage walk through the door and top-shelf insurance coverage and they start referring him to all their golfing buddies for further tests/treatment/second and third opinions.

Probably do more good and cost less if they took Mac to Myrtle Beach to play golf for a week and billed his insurance company for the cost of the trip.
