Schizophrenic people smoke weed all the time as do other severally mentally ill people. It can exacerbate it bad. Obviously them getting drunk is not much better.

I was a social worker and worked with Rockford's downtown homeless population. Some of them smoked weed constantly and felt it was better then their medicine.. it wasn't.

I am not a prude, far from it. Anything can be used too much. Some people never touch a drug but gamble the entire paycheck away.

No. I am not the one who is talking shit about something that is obviously very tough for a person to do. See, I do not enjoy trying to make myself feel better by talking about the misfortune of a sports radio talk show host. Its the same thing as what middle school girls do all the time. Talk shit about other people because they feel like shit themselves.

The logic where you pointed out that DR's advising someone off a drug means its bad?

Im just following what you specifically said.

spanky wrote:
Well, if you were listening, you heard Mac say that substance abuse was part of the problem. Weed was the first substance he referenced, and the one he/they referenced the most. He said he no longer can partake in that.

I take that to mean it must be bad for a person. His "nine person medical team" obviously agrees as it was part of his therapy/recovery.

So if someone said Caffiene was a problem for them and they cant take it anymore and Dr's agree then....What?

Obviously one isolated incident means nothing in both cases.

A guy says he had a problem and got treatment for it and six pages ensue? It seems like nothing to talk about to me. Good luck Dan.

I'm also glad Sir has returned to the darkness of night broadcasting.

You called them insecure little dicks and that they were 13 year old girls/boys that call people gay. Would like to have the court stenographer read the posts back to you?

Regardless, weed, booze, and blow shouldnt be that bad for you. The chemical imbalance isn't his fault.

Many Doctors actually recommend drinking a glass or 2 of red wine daily. Red wine in moderation is good for you.
1 0r 2 bottles a day not so much...

No. I said if my doc said 'don't do it because it's bad for you', I wouldn't do it.

You turned that into I 'only do what what my doc recommends me to do'. Those are almost opposites.

I smoked pot heavily for two years after leaving the military, just as I had before entering the military. Greatly exacerbated post-military anxiety and depression issues to the point I felt I was having an anxiety attack every time I smoked, towards the end. I just quit cold turkey. Difficult but I hate the 12 step program. Very much mental.

I pretty much expected something to do with substance abuse.

I don't know much about the 12 steps except what I've seen on tv/in movies, but if you heard the show this morning, did Mac sound like a 12-stepper? The whole awkward puzzle-piece gift** and subtle apology to Spiegel ("don't stress the bad shows") sounded like some 12-step b.s.

Either that, or the cure for depression is to turn a dude into a cross between Richard Simmons and Opus from Bloom County.

**what's the puzzle piece deal, is that some 12 stepper thing, like you get a puzzle piece for being good? Mac said he plans to get a bunch more of em. In the movies, they get em for being sober for various periods of time.

"I was born with something that I have no control over," McNeil told listeners of his depression.

Isn't one of the 12 steps taking personal responsibility?

The thing being left out of this spectrum of narcotics is the one responsible for more deaths than all the others combined, several times over.

And, unless I missed it, the one that Mac gave no indication he's giving up.

See Scorehead's post on the previous page.

I'm sure I do a lot of things docs would frown upon. I've never, ever seen/heard a legit doc recommend weed for the general public. Ever.
