I was a social worker and worked with Rockford's downtown homeless population. Some of them smoked weed constantly and felt it was better then their medicine.. it wasn't.

I am not a prude, far from it. Anything can be used too much. Some people never touch a drug but gamble the entire paycheck away.

I smoked pot heavily for two years after leaving the military, just as I had before entering the military. Greatly exacerbated post-military anxiety and depression issues to the point I felt I was having an anxiety attack every time I smoked, towards the end. I just quit cold turkey. Difficult but I hate the 12 step program. Very much mental.

I pretty much expected something to do with substance abuse.

I don't know much about the 12 steps except what I've seen on tv/in movies, but if you heard the show this morning, did Mac sound like a 12-stepper? The whole awkward puzzle-piece gift** and subtle apology to Spiegel ("don't stress the bad shows") sounded like some 12-step b.s.

Either that, or the cure for depression is to turn a dude into a cross between Richard Simmons and Opus from Bloom County.
