Wait a minute there. If you want to say that Beardown is annoying, that's fine. I might even agree, although I do often enjoy his posts. But don't act as if he is discussing race as it relates to Goff simply out of the blue or merely based upon the fact that Jason is a black man. Goff styled his on-air personality in a manner such that it opens up that type of discussion. Beardown never talked about J. Hood or Tommy Williams or Sir Larry that way.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, of course, but I remember Senor telling Mannelly during transition "agree with me and you'll sound smart," and then like a week later Mannelly realized he didn't really need his job.

Seriously, I think you and I probably dislike the NBA for the same reasons. And it's not because we don't want to watch brothers dunk. In fact, I don't care if there are any white guys on the Illini. I'm glad that Finke buster is gone.

I don't notice it as much on the board. I think you can admit that on the show the NBA talk was presented as a part of their political messaging/ talking down to callers.

I don't think most people consider the NBA the black league when comparing to the NFL. For sure if talking MLB or NHL. I think hating on the NBA regular season is warranted with a third of the league tanking/ resting players to lose.

Regular season NBA is boring as fuck and off-season NFL news is more exciting than it. These are 2 basic facts that have nothing to do with race.

If that is the case then why are ratings for NBA games up 20%?

Other than Philly no team really tanked last season. Did the vast majority of people here hate on the Cubs for tanking? Sox tanked last season and people still like them (Sox fans) also.

What i notice is that people will find the smallest of issues to pick at when it comes to the NBA.

I can honestly pull a B&G thread where people on here actually bashed them for discussing the NBA finals.

The NBA finals?

I disagree with Ogie in that I personally find the NBA and the NFL boring as fuck, let alone guys talking about the NFL in March. But I think the answer to your question is that young guys seem to love the NBA, though as JLN has repeatedly pointed out, they likely are finding guys to listen to who are much more savvy than danny bernstein and Jason Goff on various media platforms besides terrestrial radio.

i dont concern myself with NBA regular season basketball because it is not interesting. it all stems from the fact that the regular season is pointless and too long. there are a couple teams with legitmate title hopes... that's it... the rest is just filler bullshit that I dont care to watch. 4-8 seed NBA teams cannot win a title... here are stats to back that up
Image

The only goal good teams have during the regular season is to not get star players hurt. The NBA conference finals and the finals are AWESOME. I love watching high level basketball played by the best players in the league at 100% effort.

RACE plays 0% role in my decision to not care about regular season NBA basketball. I love basketball, played it through highschool competitively.

No, you don't get to try to deflect this. You drew a line in the sand: Posters on this board dislike the NBA in part because of the racial demographic of its players.

That is calling "posters on this board" racist. It is an unequivocal, undeniable label of racism that you tried to pin on posters here. Admit or retract it, those are your only two options.

It was also phony. He grew up talking the hosts as a suburban kid. He got his job because of his relationship with Terry Boers. Then he somehow became oppressed and in the business of moving souls/doing very serious radio to the illiterate callers of whom he once was one.

So because Goff discussed race that made him a target? Do you want me to bump some of his threads? What about all of the talk about Goff only getting the job because he was black?

Has there been any references to McKnight and white privilege? How about all of the other jamokes that have floated through the score over the years? I know all of them. Has there been such a focus on how they gained employment? doubt it. Bump the threads if there has been and i will surely apologize.

on christmas 2017 cavs-warriors drew a 5.5 rating.... so basically the best possible NBA regular season matchup.

A meaningless eagles-raiders game drew 6.7 rating same day.... btw I specificaly remember this game because it was so horrendous.... 19-10 was final score (the final play was a D TD for eagles so it was basically a 12-10 game).

It's clear what's being said. He made it a part of his persona, while constantly talking down to his audience. No one cares about McKnight other than saying he's boring. At least he does not dare people to not listen while calling them stupid racists.

I think calling him a "target" is overstating the case. If he's a "target" what is Julie DiCaro? These are people who broadcast on public airwaves for a living. It's not like criticizing them is out of bounds.

And yeah, there has been talk about other guys and white privilege. BRick went at it with several posters about black guys failing to get second chances. I'm sure you took part in the discussion. Don't be disingenuous to try to make a point.

Why do we keep talking head to head when my point is about the NFL in March.

The NBA is the 2nd most popular league in this country whether people on here like it or not. You and others can continue to ignore if you like. If you wonder why the Score hasn't grown over the years its due imo to putting out a product that doesn't reflect the demographic of this city and this country.

They treat the NBA like a bald headed step child and have done so for years.

It is the fastest growing sport in this
country. Lebron James is the most recognizable athlete in this countrry. You want to discuss facts those are it.

In terms of global popularity it blows Football and Baseball out of the water.

You ignored my point regarding the relative interest in the hiring of other hosts over the years. They specifically referenced Goff being hired because he is black.

And he knew the right people to get a shot. Goff knew the right people as well. I don't think he was hired because he was black. It was because he called the show, got to know the hosts, and they liked and promoted him. I think being black may have helped him get the spot with Bernstein because Bernstein wanted to do really serious social justice radio, but it probably had more to do with him liking Goff.

I don't like the NBA or the NHL. Do I hate both blacks and whites?

Unless they're Russian.

I agree but Beardown and a few others never acknowledged this. For better or worse the guy worked his way up through the station and was regarded as the stations premier producer at one time.

The NBA is the 2nd most popular league in this country whether people on here like it or not.
Nobody has really denied that.

The NFL is the most popular league in the country, even though you haven't said these exact words. Being that it is the most popular, it is going to draw interest in March, April, August, November, or any other month. 99% of the time in Chicago, NFL talk is going to be more popular than NBA regular season talk regardless of what time of year it is.
