True. I am not even sure why Duke is as highly rated as it is at anything really. Because rich people want to go south and keep others away?

We had Billy Braksick from Flanagan come to our banquet in 8th grade. They had just lost to Marty Simmons and Lawrenceville in the IHSA final. The dude was 7-feet in high school. I guess we didn't have quite the cachet of pittmike's school.

His nickname was The Cookie Man in college because of his love for cooking. I always figured he would be a chef but was surprised to read he played pro basketball in Europe for 13 years. I remember him as a big, powerful guy with no skills but maybe that is because De Paul was good back then and he was with much more talented players.

Syracuse is more highly regarded in the sports end of the business.

Jim Wallace was a student teacher at my middle school when I was in seventh grade. He was one of the heroes when Northwestern smoked a highly-ranked Kentucky team in 1975 or 1976. I would bet a bunch of money that that is the only time NU has ever beaten Kentucky.
