This. I was the first and only member of the Spiegal ALS. I hope he lands on his feet.

No, I liked Spiegs a lot too, and I liked the show. I thought they played off each other well and held each other in check. Danny P solo is a real heavy lift, just not fun or interesting.

It's interesting that Spiegel has not reacted--he re-tweeted something earlier from re: Bears and has been silent since.

Danny P won't be solo, he'll be with his mentor

They do, and he is under contract so that very well may happen. He also hasn't posted any farewells so he may have a landing spot

He would be absolutely perfect, I mean that sincerely, for Sirius XM MLB Network Radio. Jim Memolo, who I thought was a completely dbag when he was at 670 and 720, is great on that format. Spiegel would be too, and he could use the same XM local facility somewhere in the city to do his broadcasts.

The other thing about that channel is that only a couple of guys work 5 days a week, most work 3-4. So it would not pose a challenge to his tribute band, and he could probably pick up some shifts on other XM sports properties (Jim Miller, for example, has a show on the NFL channel), as well as some shifts on XRT.

Entercom bought all the CBS Radio stations, so yes.

Has Spiegel commented on any of this?

Maybe he can go do a sports-rock fusion show on a music sta—oh, wait.

The great thing about today is that all these threads will be recycled and given new titles tonight when Beardown logs in .

I'm worried about him at this point. He may have passed due to autoerotic asphyxiation when he heard the news.

Never had a problem with Spiegs overall. Always enjoyed his baseball talk and thoughts. Not sure if he can do something on one of the
weekend baseball shows or something. Surprising that they would let him go free and clear with a new contract without at least asking
him to do something for it. Certainly wish him luck if he doesn't pop back up on the air somewhere.

For all his warts I enjoyed Spiegel. He truly has a passion for sports and talking about sports. No one at the station comes close. He never should've quit Hit 'n Run.

i guess i have to 100% disagree. to me his passion is music, and this is a job. whenever he starts to act "passionate" in his discussions, it just comes off to me as phony.

that said, he was a competent host and i enjoyed when parkins pushed him out of his phony radio comfort zone

Miss a little, miss a lot......Oh high Mark!!

Who is this Spiegal fella?

I'm gonna miss Spiegs if it's true that he's out. I wonder if "Can't Do It" will survive. I don't see Mac liking that segment.

Remember when Spiegel was paranoid about Parkins pushing him out? Well he was right.

Sad to see Spiegal go. Maybe a part time gig/filling in would be the path for him going forward?

Bingo.

With all of the bitching about him here over the years, I can’t believe all of the bouquets being thrown his way.

Bye, Felicia.

I'm gonna miss Spiegs... Has anyone heard if Jay is safe? I feel like he's been really bringing a lot to the show lately, it'd be a big loss if he was gone too.

I feel bad for Spiegs getting dropped. His show wasn't the one getting plowed in the ratings.

I'm guessing they kowtowed to Bernstein somewhat when they demoted him to midday and let him pick his own partner. ergo, no place for spiegs.

So the guy who was hosting a show that has good ratings gets let go and the guy who was on the show that necessitated a lineup revamping keeps his job?

Wow.

Hope Spiegel lands on his feet somewhere.

Matt is a good second; he can't lead a show. I liked him with mac - Matt did his homework on all sorts. he can't carry a show - but he added information.

Love the "big fat" combo. Gets me every time. I must refer to Brad Biggs as Big Fat Brad Biggs.
