That's why the show was ended. DiCastro needed to repair all the damage done from B&G. Spiegel was launched since a) he wouldn't mesh with Bernstein, b) DiCastro wanted his boy, and c) replacing Speigel gave DiCastro cover in the race issue of firing Goff.
Spiegel and Goff were doing well in the ratings too. In fact, they were so well Goff got the promotion that Parkins then got.

Once again, Goff deserved what he got. Why was Spiegel not in the same situation? None of those answers explain it.

C'mon, this is obvious. Bernstein was not going to work with Spiegel in the afternoon slot. Are you really arguing that Goff is a better or more entertaining host than Spiegel?

Interesting Goff wasn't given the same soft landing as Spiegel.

Spiegel got the soft landing. He is the one who is still collecting paychecks. Goff was given a 1 paycheck buyout and sent on his way to make producer type money for Sirius

All of the answers thus far give some theory and I guess you are right we don't and likely won't know the exact reason. Adding to the pile I would also point out the boss for the Spiegs and Goff show and then the promotion to B&G was a different boss. You can search back but the day DeCastro got announce I posted here this was good news for Mac.

The other easier thing is we are not privy to any of these guy's contracts. We may have an idea of time frame but no exact wording, terms, buyouts, non-competes etc. That may also affect the manner of landing one gets.

Probably because Spiegel didnt drive away an audience by daring and encouraging them to go listen to something else. It’s probably just a simple as that. Not really that hard tin understand

Initially, DeCastro said both Spiegel and Goff would still be part of the station. Then Goff took some shots at DeCastro on twitter. That's when DeCastro said the hell with Goff coming back. Goff would not have played well with others. Especially with Mac and McDoink. Not to mention his new found hate for Bernstein once he was fired. He would have brought his bitterness and hate to the air. DeCastro new that wouldn't be a good look. And what boss wants to have somebody that publicly takes shots at him?

DeCastro also said Hanley would do weekends. I doubt that. But we'll see. That's DeCastro's way of firing people initially. His move is to always say they'll still be around until he figures out if that's what he really wants.

It was hilarious when Goff thought his contract was fully guaranteed.

He should have known that but it’s an easy assumption.

Goff used to tell callers and texters that wanted him fired the following: "My ass has a 2 year contract. So if they fire me now, my ass gets paid no matter what. So kiss my black ass, mother fuckers!!!!"

A few months later...

DeCastro: The 30 days are up, Jason. Your contract is voided.

Goff:

I was in the car yesterday listening to MadDog radio and Jason Goff on the radio.

I know a little bit about radio pay, but not satellite. Do they pay good money? Is it daily pay set up. Always been curious. Maybe Goff is making more money now than before and laughing at the WSCR. Now he was a fill in host, but still to be on nationally is quite the thing.

You think Downtown Julie Brown is cashing a fat paycheck?

80's on 8 probably has a listenership several times greater than Mad Dog.

Speigel and Parkins are going off demonizing Daniel Murphy for his view on gays. Everybody's happy because off the move and they turn sjw. That why they suck and aren't go-to hosts and force listeners to ESPN 1000.

Between this and Spiegel wanting to complete "The Mitch Album" and playing clips of their previous unfunny parody songs there have been more PTFB button moments than there are when Mac is there.

Retiring Derrick Rose's number talk and Parkins slobbing all over D-Rose was a PTFB segment. Carm & Silvy was an enjoyable listen today. I'm finding AM1000 a better listen more and more each day.

Those two pricks preaching sjw bs like who the fuck wants to hear it. I barely want to hear sports from them. I was multitasking and couldn't change the station.

Eventually moved over to silvy and he brought up texters complaints about Murphy's opinions. Silvy said I like the player and that was the end of it . No sjw preaching.

The 2 dickheads @670 also had the balls to compare Murphy to aroldis chapman which is horrible. It's just not the sjw but the preaching what they perceive as right and wrong.

I'm getting better with silveys voice and yurkos silliness.

Anyone wanting to retire Rose's number is an idiot. What would be the point?

Parkins said because he won an MVP and does a lot for Chicago in terms of community outreach and programs.

When the school shooting in Florida occurred, people like Bernstein at 670 were calling for Rizzo (an alum of the school) to speak up for gun control and were pissed when he initially refused to wade into the discussion. Silvy pushed against that take and said athletes aren't required to express their political beliefs. Local AM1000 rarely delve into political issues and when they do, they don't dwell on it for hours or days at a time. Bernstein and Parkins are still doing their SJW radio that turns me off.

Oh they were all over Rizzo for not being more active all while the rest of the media was giving him credit for being present.
