I really enjoy the formation of this friendship between Sir and Goff. Back in the guest days of the board, when Goff was one of the cool kids at the station, it was reported that Goff wouldn't give him the time of day, despite Sir's overtures. Then, when Goff needed a shoulder to cry on, Sir saw his chance to be there for him.

The relationship seems like a guy who is friend zoned by a girl.

This pairing will do wonders for Laurence. He needed to be away from Bernstein and with someone who actually enjoys sports like Spiegs. Neither guy is someone I run to because I have to hear their take on anything, but it also shouldn't be a bad show like Bernstein & Holmes was.

It will be a different kind of bad.

Despite the fact that 90% of his radio persona is completely derivative of Bernstein.

I feel bad for Speigs. He'll deal with it as I am sure he remembers his recent period of being "vaguely" employed, but this pairing will suck the life right out of him. I spent a lot of time listening to the afternoon show - of course will give this a try. Going in, I am not optimistic at all. The community fostered there over the past few years, it about to get steamrolled by LH mono boredom. Maybe I am wrong.

I can see them getting on each other's nerves to the point that it escalates into a near-physical or physical confrontation (they either get into a fistfight or they kiss).

Oh yeah, Larry will be in the hallway!

Also, I would just about guarantee that Larry trying to talk up his baseball/softball skills all the time annoys the crap out of Shane.

Does LoHo acknowledge that he’s fat?

Because if not, the potential for confrontational fat commentary is off the charts with this pairing.

That’s what I assumed.

First time Spiegs tries to commiserate as a fat guy will be great radio.

He definitely downplayed the significance of moving to afternoons on his podcast. I thought he was downplaying the possibility any move and that he would be fine with any time as long as he a regular show.

Saying that, I don't think I buy that. I think he wanted the afternoon show with Goff but then settled for Spiegel.

He didn't want to be seen as campaigning for it, but he clearly made a move by taking himself off the air while this position was open.

yeah it is BS. He went after the afternoon slot hard. It is clear he views it as a reward for his faithful service for so many years.

Yep, it was significant to him, but he didn't want to say that on his podcast so he downplayed it if he didn't get that role. Taking himself off the air and probably working with Goff, to at least some degree, was likely part of this move, but when it fell through, he still had enough pull to land it...but didn't want to publicly campaign in case he didn't get it. He's a sensitive fellow so it was probably easier to tell his audience that he was happy where he was.

I will battle through this pissoffedness a little longer. Never checked out the other afternoon show - might have to. Or just push the xm button. No way Spiegs reigns in all that power trip LH is putting out.

I used to listen a lot.

I seldom listen now. The reason is that it seems to be all about themselves...and I don"t care

Good Lord, I do not care about you

There's always been a personality-driven aspect. That's what separates them from CBS Sports Radio

That worked well when the hosts were alcoholics/addicts who stayed out all night.

I listened and enjoyed. They had a nice level of fun going.

but, yes, Sir did play the hits. He named dropped, bragged about special treatment at games, pronounced the name Len as Lynne...but somehow I found it charming this time. I hope this works.

I tuned in for a minute. They had some NFL or Bears expert on. Who the hell is that pussbag? He kind of sounded like a younger more feminine version of Hub. They spent the segment taking turns seeing who's throat could take more of Caleb's dick after his presser. I don't like the pairing at all. Matt has been much better for a few years and I am fine with him. Leeery is so god damn boring when he is trying to drive that it is painful to listen to. The Me and Meat show needs to die a quick death.

"Spiegel, ultimately, just wants to have a group of friends to talk to. And if it turns into good radio that's a bonus. Like Dan Patrick and his nerds, whatever that group was called. "

This is one of the many reasons I consider him unlistenable. Too much pushing from him about what great friends he and his co-host are. I seriously do not get how he is on the air in drive time in market #3.

The producer for Bernstein and Holmes/Harris has an effeminate voice. He sounds like Mac or someone on the station 10-15 years ago doing a "gay" voice.

I thought it was telling that the show wanted to do an outing to see the Sox Wednesday night. Matt had cleared it with his wife, it was ready to go, then Laurence opted out and it fell apart . Laurence doesnt fit the zeitgeist of the afternoon show with the mob and the "slap and tickle" atmosphere that Matt, Tanny and Shane have. Laurence is the guy who reminds the teacher that he/she forgot to assign homework and that does not fit or sit well with the rest of the afternoon class . Holmes will never be a fun guy and will think he is above the style of the afternoon show. No chemistry with them. He is going to be miserable and eventually leave imo.

A baseball game is a great way to spend time with coworkers. Sad that it did not work
out. There would have been some good show content.

Necessary in June but not during Bears season.

There was about ten minutes of content generated by NOT doing the outing. Which is appropriate IMO.
