Murph solo is true Murph, if you're into it or not.

By the way, you guys see how pissed Jenks was after he barely held on just now? Fuck that was fun to watch..screaming in his glove, throwing the chew out with vitriol, and then it looked like he was gonna hurl or cry, or maybe both. He's entertainingly nuts.

Murphy's contract must have a clause in the thing that says he doesn't have to work weekend afternoons.
If it does, Murphy is a fool not to waive it and work when he was at his best.
Games in progress and games just ended where Murph and callers can talk about them.

Where does Murphy think he's going if he leaves....He is too loose a cannon for WGN.....MVP doesn't need him or his salary....

Looks like Murph is buying a ticket on the Good Ship Mike North.

Not "worried" about the critics....bring it on. It's what it's all about. It's what makes The Score unique...like Terry ripping me and me standing up to him in transition, or him shitting on Bruce Wolf and then Bruce calling in.

Just letting you know that we hear it, we read it, and then we disregard what's useless. What percentage of it I find useless, well, that's personal discretion.

Busted. All I remember is "On the loose" and "Wind him Up". I just found the Worlds Apart tape case in my closet a few days ago.
Seriously speaking of tributes, has the band delved into Rage Against the Machine? Alice in Chains? Soundgarden?

BTW, when will Urethra Franklin make an appearance? Do I have the correct Matt in that case?
How about Carl from ATHF? I loved his prediction sessions during the NFL season.

Matt Smiegel is Urethra Franklin? If so, he gets eternal props from me.

Haven't found the best use for Urethra since I've been back....she usually needs a news hook. Somebody go rob her or fondle her in public or something.
Not many modern bands done by Tributosaurus yet, Mojito. Beck was the last one. I'd be down for Soundgarden though.

I would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear Meatpants confront Boers about the hypocrisy he demonstrated during his week-long attempted meatballing of Bruce Wolf. A few weeks ago Boers lectured Meatpants like he was an elementary school principal upbraiding a misbehaving child for criticizing the B&B show on the Score's airwaves. Then last week he devotes several shows to humiliating Wolf for what he said on those same Score airwaves. Further, when Wolf calls Terry and Laurence because he was "concerned that he may have done a bad job" hosting, Terry proves himself to be a coward by retreating from his criticism and striking a conciliatory note with Bruce.

Edgy radio is good radio. Make this happen, Meatpants.

On a more global scale, I think you and Mac could instantly improve your show if both of you put more effort into listening to one another and less emphasis on delivering "entertaining" monologues. Right now both of you seem like you're overpreparing your rants and have thus failed to connect at the conversational level. It's almost like you and Mac are doing two separate shows because both of you seem more concerned about performing well individually rather than developing an overarching show identity.

I also think you need to continue your sarcastic assaults on Mac as "Mr. Monopoly Money." Go ahead and Teinowitz him. Doing so will help bring some productive tension to your relationship while also freshening up Mac's increasingly stale accounts of his consumerist lifestyle.

Excessive warmth is cloying. Edgy radio is good radio.

Hello Tall_Midget,
Nice post. I have made Mac angry on this board by mentioning that him talking about buying a $13,000 boat (while on ESPN) was not in good taste because of the economic climate of this country. A lot of listeners might be on hard times & don't need to hear of such luxuries. I have not heard much of the new show on 'SCR,but I like what I have heard. I have returned to 670 because of MAC & MEAT. Everything out of their mouths can't be golden, but I think they hit the target on most occasions. I will try to listen more.

I'd be there in a hot second for a Soundgarden Tributosaurus. Probably my favorite band of the 90's. I was so pissed when they broke up, but they went out on a high note IMO.

I think that there is way too much over-analization on this board sometimes. I think that you just do the best you can do and try to improve the show every day in whatever way you can...plain and simple. I'm sure that the constructive criticism helps though. I would agree that the pace needs to slow down just a tad.

Murph is a good host for the casual fan; having him in a 2 hour slot in midday is playing him out of position (where nonetheless he garnered good ratings.) I don't know what they intend to do with him, but a single one hour segment since Mac & mPants arrived hardly seems a good use of your resources.

As to mPants & Mac: you guys need some weekly segments. Even the obvious ("that's just... BS" with a Hawk drop announcing the segment) would have wings. Run it on Monday so as to get the weekend crimes. Let's see: allow things people do to catch bad umpire/ref calls. Affronts towards the sports world; affronts in media allowed. The kinda shit we nominate for weekly douchebaggery.

Dont change anything Matt. You guys will get more comfortable and the show will be fine. Please dont "try" and change for the sake of a few that will complain no matter what. Forced radio is bad and you guys have been around long enough to know that. Be yourselves and it will work.

And by the way- Hit and run sounds great. No jesse by itself is a plus but you do a good job. I wish Rongey could do the show with you but for now I'm hooked it..

Just heard "On the Loose" by Saga the other day on the sattelite.

Mighty big of you to say that Spiegs considering he was the last SCR guy to top M&M in the ratings. And the June books apparently show that B&B drop out of the top 20 without Murph's lead in.

Granted he lacks the superb wit and work ethic of Terry Boers or the humility of Dan Bernstein. And certainly he can't hold a flame to Danny Mac at the grill.

We will see if Mac's <Bernstein> fire and passion make him better at </Bernstein> sports radio. Perhaps at us, perhaps at any & all targets, he's going to keep shooting like Antoine Walker, Ben Gordon, Larry—wait, this isn't right, I need an analogy from hockey or grilling or arena rock.

Dont listen to these assholes on the board. Be who you are. The show is overall okay, and in all honesty sports radio has jumped the shark so you do the best you can with what you have.

I believe it's all just gotten old and outdated. It's the same dumb calls over and over. The interviews with players are canned. As much as people hated North, he was the only guy that asked tough (and sometimes really dumb) questions during interviews. Now there are newspaper guys who are just talking about the same crap they write in their paper. B&B have had the same schtick for what now, 8 years? Its just getting old. I used to get excited about waking up to Murph and Fred. I used to enjoy the listen to T-Dub on the way home from hockey. I have no more enjoyment in any of it. Perhaps I am only speaking for myself and projecting that to others, but I have heard similar comments from others.

Let me also add, since joining this board, I have realized how many very creepy people are out there treating sports radio jockies like celebrities in the tabloids. I never realized the hatred of North. I have nothing personal against guys like RodeoVann, Good Dolphin and Beardown, but oh my God.

I also realized how many good natured people were fans of MJH. While some of you have been a little out there, the group from MJH have been a pleasure to meet and know. W_Z, M_C, HHJ, Spaulding, Frank, Darkside and Grid are/were all very real and cool people to meet. I think with the breakup of MJH, it killed a good subculture.

Christ woman, fix your goddamn quote function. So, at least then I will know it is Hoffy's drivel you are referencing without rereading a bunch more shit to find his sheepshit.

I think some of it is the comfort level and possibly age of the hosts. They also don't dig too deep into the analysis of sports very much, but I feel is because they are tying to appeal to a broad audience.
