I agree to some extent but he wasn't this bad up the middle. The line is worse and I'm wondering if that hamstring or knee is bothering him. It's got to change.

I don't think Forte is a special RB, more of a system guy that can thrive under the right circumstances. He's not terribly shifty, and other than the Colts game last year, I can't remember him doing anything that made me say "Wow!".

That being said, this O-line is AWFUL. Pace never was a pancaker, Omiyale has looked terrible and Kruetz looks to be seriously on the downslide.

i don't think forte is a special RB either, but he is certainly good enough to be a consistent top 5 back given better protection.

forte looks like he should be a larger version of thurman thomas. 5'10 199 vs. 6'2 225.
or a Terrell Davis....

I'm not really buying the Top 5.

Seviceable to Above-average is his plateau, in my view. His main forte is that he doesn't do anything poorly. Is that good enough to have a consistent Pro-Bowl calibre career? We shall see...

Thurman and Terrell Davis comparisons are way out of his league, those guys could run downhill and had vision to make guys miss. I don't think Forte is really a guy who's skillset requires defensive coordinators to scheme for him..

The thread title is perfect... Matt Forte is not bad.
