How can we make fun?
How about more support to the fact that band is of higher priority than primary job?
Rehersal instead of MNF?

At least I remembered it was Beat Writers Across America today.

Also, it looks like I may have been wrong about Da Boo.

So the show won't discuss the game nor was it worth televising. Got it.
And I could barely watch the game myself. It's not related to my job though.
Anyhow... the question was how can we pick on him?
Once again choosing band over show. That's my answer and I'm stickin to it.

Has Goff officially been announced as the fill in for Thursday?

By my math, we're due for a Bob Vandington sighting.

UMN, I haven't heard, but Goff's on tonight at 6p for "The Miller Lite Top Draft Show" from Kincaid's in Lincoln Park with the Bears' Desmond Clark. I'm reasonably sure Drinky's on tonight at 10p, and could there be "Relationship Advice" from the Ranger? Could be...

If your employer allows you to take days off for your other job or hobby, I don't really see a problem here.
It's not like the Bears played Monday night.

After watching the second blown field goal, I'd have to say this is correct.

I picked the 49ers.

I've got no problem with it either.
Take all the days off you want.
But... when someone asks which project are you more dedicated to, the answer is pretty clear.
Again, I LIKE the fact he didn't watch the game. That's cool. I like the fact he takes the days off he does and for the reason he does. It works perfectly toward the final objective of my agenda.
I hope he ONLY watches Boston games too.

How is it pretty clear to you what Spiegel thinks? Have you ever asked him?
I don't know...it's not like him watching the game last night was going to make the show 30% better today or anything.

Red red wine you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollars when your just in my hand

Red red wine you make me feel so sad
Any time I see you go it makes me feel bad

Red red wine you make me feel so fine
Monkey pack him rizla pon the sweet dep line

Red red wine you give me whole heap of zing
Whole heap of zing mek me do me own thing

Red red wine you know of love
Your kind of loving like a blessing from above

Red red wine I love you right from the start
Right from the start with all of my heart

Red red wine in a 80`s style
Red red wine in a modern beat style, yeah

Personally I think that it's clear based on the information we have. However, we don't know what we don't know.right? But there's only 1 of these MNF games a week and it should probably come up in conversation during a sports talk show so if it comes up he wouldn't know what he was talking about.
Now a host not knowing the subject matter may make the show 30% or 30% worse or what not, depending on whether you expect your show hosts to know what they're talking about I suppose. If you don't care, then I doubt it affects your enjoyment of the show at all. If you expect your hosts to have an encyclopedic knowledge of the NFL when they talk about it, then I suppose it would harsh your show buzz. depends on your listener expectations.

I'll tell you what Doug, let's put it another way.

Let's say your band will jam a song with another musician for one song. And let's say that other player just doesn't work on the song, blows off all meetings with the band, doesn't send the mp3's back with what they're gonna do. Now, there's what 5 of you on instruments ok? and if 1 of them doesn't know the song because they didn't work on it and is not prepared when the song comes up, does that make the show 30% less enjoyable?
Now I already know what you're thinking. You wouldn't play with that person right? Or would you bring him up there?
Say you're not the one in charge. This song is going to happen. One of your players is unprepared. You have to go thru with it.
Whose fault is it when the song is an abortion?

You're not giving me any choices...so, this really isn't appropriate.
But, I'll play along. I'd tell the sound guy to cut this persons volume 30% to make it 30% more enjoyable.

the monday night football game was between two teams that are not only not the bears, or in their division, but aren't even in a realistic playoff race. MNF is dead. has been since ESPN took it over and made it into their own circle jerk circus.

it's basically like hating on terry for not watching the olympics, which is a much bigger event than MNF is.

other than derek anderson's "laughing" moment that gruden opined on, there was nothing interesting in that game; except that it was fitting that arizona wore black.

I see there being 2 options.

1. Continue with the current radio gig but make it a priority over all else and then fit the band thing in and multitask instead of taking days off or not staying current with some sporting events. (You would probably be a better listen if the listeners, and probably your co host, thought you were more dedicated to the craft)

2. Scale back the radio to being a fill in, let someone else do the show with Mac who has a passion and dedication for the job and is all in....and continue with your other interests as you wish.

Kevin Harlan & Randy Cross, who called the game on Westwood One, didn't care for Arizona sporting the black jerseys last night, and Cross in particular thought it was a "money grab".

As for Derek Anderson snapping at a reporter when he was spotted by ESPN cameras laughing as his team was getting their clocks cleaned by a bad 49ers' team, he can bitch and moan all he wants. If I were his head coach Ken Whisenhunt, I would've given the Cardinals' QB the hook at halftime. They were not moving the football all that well and I thought Anderson should've been benched for his lethargic play. Not to suggest Max Hall would've been better, but that Arizona team is a shell of the team that went to the Super Bowl 2 years ago. They are a laughingstock again right now.

As for the 49ers, Harlan mentioned on a few occasions that if the "49ers win out, they win the division." I think it's safe to say right now that Troy Smith is no immediate threat to Joe Montana or Steve Young quarterbacking that once proud franchise.

From the clip I saw, it wasn't like they were clowning around or even laughing out loud. He looked like he was grinning for a few seconds.

I'd be grinning too, if I sucked at my job but was still a millionaire...
