Step 1: upload the photo from your local drive to imgur http://imgur.com/

Step 2: harvest the underlying direct url to the image. Couple of ways to do this:

1. right-click (or command click or whatever mac fags do) directly on the image and that should bring up
a "contextual menu". "View Image" and open the image directly then copy the url in the address bar or select "Copy Image Location"
to get that url directly.

2. edit the url to the imgur gallery page by appending a .jpg to it and removing the word "gallery" and the trailing slash after gallery:

so http://imgur.com/gallery/g0NOXAz becomes http://imgur.com/g0NOXAz.jpg which works to load the image but then you'll notice that the actual, final url has an "i." at the beginning:
