And once again, thanks for completely missing my point.
I'm saying that he won't ask Meat to quit, and would never say anything other than supportive things given what we know of his history.
Damn spaulding, Chill out.

Not mad, asking. I did miss your point but I do think you ride Meat and Mac at times a little hard so it seems a little Gloopishesque.

If I appear to ride them hard it has more to do with my high expectations of this show that it does me not liking it.
I am sad about this show a bit. I think that Mac on SCR had great potential. I think mac is saddled with a less than enthusiastic cohost. I see Mac's potential come out more with his guest hosts. I mean, as around... almost everyone prefers his guest hosts to Meatpants. And it's not an unfair reason either. most comments about his alternate hosts are about the same... the co hosts bring out the best of Mac. I agree with in, and in fact I believe that Mac isn't really comfortable with Matt. That's what I get out of the show, and how much better Mac is with other hosts.
Look, if I were gloopish I wouldn't listen, I would never go to his remotes/shows, and I wouldn't have sat and chatted with him at the double door show.
I LIKE Mac. He's the reason why I'm a Chicago Sports radio fan.

Darkside is 100% correct. I was a big Danny Mac fan and he has always been cool when I have met him in person. Meatpants bring the show down. I liked the show because of Dan. Now I find I listen less because Meatpants has gotten unbearable.

I started on Sportstalk radio as strictly an MJH fan, specifically fans of Mac and Jurko. I love me some Jurko man, helluva guy IRL and on the radio, but I don't listen to the Salon. At all.
I listened to Silv and Carm, and Rico and Rosie, and that giant doosh Rome, and what not while waiting on the MJH show. 90% of my first 500 posts were probably in the MJH section. I have only been to two non-Mac events, one was a personal invitation and one was simply having nothing better to do on a Friday when B&Roz were at Cubbiebear a few miles away.
I quit on ESPN when they fired Mac.
I immediately moved almost 100% to the score when Mac started there.
Mac slapped me in the face a bit when he mistook my honest opinion for a dig on him and told me to fuck off. And yeah, that changed my opinion a bit. But I still catch 80% of his on air time, and still listen almost exclusively to the station he's on.
All this is clearly posted by me in my history. There's nothing in this post that i've not said here before.

A "real" Mac fan would never say hurtful (to the show) things like that. Or at least be more sorrowful sounding after those kinds of admissions

But certainly not one who was brought to the temple of Chicago Sports radio by Mac

Really though, I'm always surprised you're a Mac fan. He doesn't seem nearly edgy enough (nor his shows deep enough) to hold your attention.

I find "edgy" radio to be superficial, generally speaking. Crude behavior in an effort to appease the masses doesn't interest me. I've thusly never been a fan of Howard Stern. I'm too old to get a boner each time someone uses the word "bitch" on the radio.

As long as Mac is happy working middays for recession contracts, he should keep Meat.

But he is sliding down that North / Dahl road without realizing it.

What is the age cutoff to still get one?

How am I a sports talk radio greenhorn? If you started listening to MJH as your entrance into sports talk radio, I did as well...around 2002. Waddle and Silvy isn't exactly when I discovered sports talk. I've listened to everything from MJH to Kornheiser to DP to Mike North to Julie Swieca to Bob Valvano when he had his weeknights show. I'm not exactly a sports talk noobie.

I didn't say "sports talk radio greenhorn". Try again.

That's just it. Mac seems to want (at times) to be "edgy". (e.g. "PTFB", fighting with co-workers/bosses/Kornheiser) Other times, he seems to be first-second chair in the lowest common denominator radio biz. His shows can be crude, occasionally funny, but still crude. Other times he rails against the intrusion of non sports topics on sports radio shows  His shows often fail to, as he would put it: "pick a lane".

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy parts of his shows on most days. I just don't know that I'd approach(or understand your) "he's why I'm a fan of Chgo Sports radio" levels.

I still believe what I said about you. You are definitely in the young idealistic stage. It comes thru in a lot of your posts. Thats not a slam. EVERYONE goes thru it. I think in a few years you'll look back and find a lot of the stuff you Know now, is wrong.

It will seem ridiculous to you that you even thought or had these beliefs.

But if someone told me this 5 years ago, Id react the same way you are.

I just wanna be clear, because I think you took it differently than I meant it at the time.

I think we're saying much the same things. Your complaints about Mac are quite similar to mine. I don't listen to Mac for fashion advice, grilling advice or for breaking political news.
Until about 2002 or so, I pretty much ONLY listened to music. No talk shows at all. In fact no radio at all. Just CD's.

But mac was the first Chicago Sports Talker that I enjoyed. I found MJH to be appointment radio. I loved "Critics", I loved the show, loved Jurko, and i was really sold as a fan when I met them at nellies. That touch, and his work here at CSFMB, made me a fan of him, and thusly, a fan of Chicago Sports Talk Radio.
After getting hooked on MJH, I listened to the rotating morning show crapathon between Rome, Rico, Rosie and the others. Mac was what made me a fan of Chicago Sports radio.

Think of it like a 30ish person saying that Jordan is why they're an NBA fan. Sure he was a philandering, gambling addicted, self centered degenerate, but he was Chicago's big superstar, and many people got into Basketball to watch him play. He is why millions of fans are fans.

I'm referred to as a child AT LEAST 25 times a day.

You alone contribute 18.7 of them per day.

Not even close.

Look if you cant see the difference in the Hamas baby tossing stuff vs. this, then I dont know what to tell you.

The hamas stuff was all day every day by several posters. It got beaten into the ground. Several posters commented on it.

No one but you has a problem with the kid stuff, and I imagine youre having a problem with it will not improve the situation from your end.

But just to be nice

Youre a fantastically awesome poster and your experience in life is unmatched by anyone on the planet.
