I actually like the bit. I hate the East coast's abuse of vowels, and applaud anyone making fun of it. He needs to go after the substitution of an "a" sound for an "o" sound as in "Darathy," "Flarida," and "Arange" more, though.

Edit: also the massacre of the "a" sound. I like Al Michaels, but every time he says "boooaall," I cringe.

Overall, I thought the maiden voyage went pretty well. Mannelly sounds pretty comfortable, and he's even able to ask an interviewee a question without stumbling through 500 words of how he feels about the answer before the question has been posed (I'm looking at you, Boers and Mulligan). He claims he was a big basketball guy growing up and that he's been turned on to the Hawks these last 5 years or so, so I'd expect he'll be alright when the NFL season ends and the talk turns to NBA & NHL. Speigs as a driver is still a weak point, but it won't take much to be better than Carmen & Jurko or Cap & Haugh.

He's never been to a bulls game, kind of find that odd. Going to Duke I bet he was big into basketball though and makes sense he played it growing up.
