I do think people like having hosts opinions, thoughts, and attention. McNeil often gets both, more love and hate, here than he deserves.

Goff is okay but I wouldn't call him good. I don't know why people love Goff as much as they do and most of the time you guys don't give me a reason other than he is not Bob Vandington. Which, giving me a hard time is probably funny and entertaining, so swoon away over Goff. It's possible people don't seperate producer Goff and host Goff. As a producer I think he is great as a host just okay. Point out as a host what makes him great. When I listen I don't usually laugh out loud or think huh yeah that's a good/interesting thought, which is all I really want from the radio.

No it's not clear I'm doing the same. If I thought Vandington sucked, I'd say it. I like McNeil a lot. I think his current show is terrible, almost unlistenable. I hate it. I used to like drinky more than both of them but I don't anymore, his attitude to callers became to Bernsteinish, and drinky should be fun. The reason that I like Vandington on the radio has nothing to do with the fact that I've spent a whopping 3 hours of my life with him. There is no friend of Mac's that I love more than Stu and seen him more often than Bob but I do not think Stu belongs on the radio even though it'd probably be entertaining.

You are all putting way too much effort into a thread about backup hosts. They are ALL fill ins and backups for a reason.
