you know that guy took the writing of the song very seriously (even if he says otherwise). It sounds like some crap out of the 70s with a country/rock vibe of some Eagles tribute band. It is outdated and it isn't even a year old. Good work from the guy who considers himself a musician first and a talk show host second.

I think it was Hatchetman that nailed it in a thread earlier this year ... basically he said it sounded like a dreadful rip-off of the song 'Hand Jive'.

I hate you.

Also, 312 gets it right as well ... GCG is a dreadful chart but is comparatively so much better. I'd say the same is true for 'When the Cubs Go All the Way' or whatever that drek is called.

All in all, I'd just be happy to fire up the last chorus and solo outros from 'Sweet Home Chicago' and be done with it ... that segment is plenty long enough, it's peppy enough, it's recognizable enough.

Cubbies.

I've said it before, but I always give Eddie Vedder's "Someday We'll Go All the Way" the Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf treatment the 3-4 times I've heard it live. PASS.

GCG is idiotic to play after the win. The lyrics are promising a future win that day, not celebrating a win that already happened.

My biggest issue is it's way overproduced.

Why is there Storage Wars guy yelling "yuuuuuuuuuuuup" in the background?

Quote:
"Cubs Score" contains great guitar riffs and instrumental sections perfect for intros and outros of pre-game and post-game segments. It has a chorus with a nice hook to keep fans singing along. It even pays homage to the Steve Goodman classic "Go Cubs Go," without stealing anything from that song. Quite obviously, the song's title and chorus feature the name of the team and the radio station worked into it.

Larz is such an ass licker it's ridiculous.

It's got a catchy tune, Spaulding. Perhaps a slight tweek on the lyrics may work?

Without listening, it can't be nearly as bad as the auditory abortion known as Go Cubs Go.

Does it not use the same music as Go Cubs Go? I've not heard it a lot, but that was my take away.

It's similar but I don't think its the exact music.

Oh, shit...it is.

Has anyone texted that to Speigel or brought it up to him on the air? I think that would make him have a fit and send him spiraling.

I like Pearl Jam and I like the Cubs, but hearing Vedder's Cubs' song just makes me want them to get swept in the NLDS.

He's a phony. He wore a Sox hat on SNL back in '93.

He was buddies with Jack McDowell (who was in a band) and would probably now say that was a nod to him.

You would kind of think the same thing of Tributosaurus when you first hear the concept. Matt's part of the website dispels that. Tribute bands are serious business.

It is indeed, and it's an excellent jingle b/c everyone knows it whether they want to or not.
