This is the most awesomely cringe worthy segment ever. As Dan McNeil once said, "it's pull the covers over your head radio." If it lasts more than the end of the month, I'll be shocked. For the long term success of the show, it really should get jettisoned. I wonder if Mitch even listens to this station anymore. |

Easy to rationalize it being okay when the other person is actually okay with honesty. It makes me think more of Danny that he can be an adult and actually means it when he says he has thick skin. The issue with Spiegs/anybody like this is that you can't tell me how much you love honesty and being open and then when you get some go into a shell when I'm honest because it got too real for you. |

Parkins is in the infancy of a 2 year deal. He's not going to do anything to jeopardize that. And, he made it clear on day 1 of the show that he is 160 pounds of thick skin, and aside from maybe wanting to see a dermatologist, you can't make that proclamation and turtle up a few weeks later. Even though, I think he has had some turtle moments. At the end of the day, he can go home, hit his Ss hard and realize he got his dream job and all that comes with it. |

Did not catch the original exchange, but I heard that Rozner will be in the next few days. (Appointment radio for Denis). And Jay Zawawski chimed in that, finally Spiegel will be happy. Parkins did not seem upset, but the guys in cross-talk seemed happy to get to the next subject. |

Summary from memory is caller asked Spiegs if you were Mitch and you had the option to get rid of parkins right now in favor of rozner would you do it? He paused, Parkins said the pause wasnt a good sign and then spiegs followed through and admitted he would replace Parkins. A few mins later Parkins kinda couldnt help himself when it got brought up and mentioned that his two year contract expires after Spiegs' contract does. |

If they don't dissolve this pairing asap Mitch is a bigger dummy than we thought. I thought Parkins' response to Speigs was perfect. He's got a contract that'll keep him around most likely & Speigs will hopefully get a chance to go back to being the lead singer of a lame tribute band. |

Spiegel really needs to seek help. He has a bizarre outlook, and he is so insecure, he does very strange stuff like this. Under no circumstance do you admit that on air about your partner. There is just nothing good that can come of it. Even if it's true, you lie. He really needs to get out of the business. |

Listened to it on their hourly breakdown -- for some reason, they skip over the question being asked (at least on my machine -- I tried playing it twice but it did it both times.) Anyway this segment is very uncomfortable on a show that is already generally uncomfortable. |

Listening to it now (the question is in my podcast version, BTW)...oh my goodness was that bad. Spiegel tried to couch it in "You're asking me right now..." and offered a half-hearted "I'm here, locked and loaded, every day" to, I guess, KINDA make up for once again saying on-air that he would rather have had someone else paired with him? I'm not sure what to make of the contract thing, assuming it's true: either the writing is on the wall for Spiegs that they gave his new partner a longer deal than he's got, or he has awful representation. If Spiegel is in the long-term plans of this station, and I were representing him (or I were him), I would have been in Mitch's office demanding an extension to match the length of Parkins' deal, at the very least. It would be irresponsible to see yet another replacement host installed, then given a longer contract than you, a "tenured" host if there ever was one, and not at least ask for an extension to match, and I think it's telling that he doesn't have one or that it wasn't brought up at all. Neither of which are good for one Matt Spiegel. |

The segment is great, best thing they got going. Meatpants is such an insecure douchebag. He is so jealous that his new partner is already way better at radio than he is. He could not get the partner he wanted. He sees the writing on the wall that his time on the SCORE is coming to an end. |
