... for your ears... and for your interest.

This has been one of the most unusual weeks I've experienced in radio. One day, I'll reflect on it, either on the show or here. Your "coverage" of it here has been a valuable tool, as it always has been. Thank you.

I get the doubters. I get the haters. Earned it and earned it. All good. What I don't accept is the billboard here for our new shows: Dan Bernstein (no Connor). Parkins & Mac (and implying me as a "repeated failure"). 85K? Good one! Nas, is this you? Mourn angrily in your posts all ya want, but put the fucking names and descriptions of the new shows up there in an accurate, professional manner.

First two days were acceptable in my books, my thinned out voice excepted. That'll pass. Parkins is well en route to becoming a star. I've been clamoring for a new, YOUNG star for a decade. Now he's my point guard and I'm the shooter. Lovely for us both. I've liked and respected Shep since I've known him ('09) and Tanny is a fucking amazing talent. Not to get my head out over my skis 10 hours in, but I agree with whomever suggested this show has the potential to be an all-timer.

Bernsie and Connor have been enjoyable when I've heard them. I missed their transitions with Mully and Hanley Days 1 & 2 but I won't in the morning. I enjoyed our first shortie with Laurence today. His enthusiasm for the Bears and NFL when he produced Jiggetts and me, Platteville of 2000, connected with him as sports/football lovers and I intend to feed off of what he does best -- Bears. #Team

Lastly, I hate it that Matt Spiegel and Jason Goff have been rocked. In a city of, what 7, 8 million? And there are a dozen... 15 good jobs. Pause and think about that. Our business sucks like no other. I sincerely hope the best for both of them. I fucking brought Matt back to the Score and wasn't at my best a couple of times during our five years. He had my back. He almost invariably gave 100%. I'm thrilled to be back, especially in afternoons, my home of homes, and I have an all star cast show, but I haven't once this week done a touchdown dance.

Glad your back Mac. To bad Bernstein didn't get the boot. He must know where the bodies are buried. I simply can't listen to that show.

Sure, sure... all good stuff, Mac.

Let's get down to it: what percentage role do you think Beardown played in the end of Jason Goff's career?

Good to hear you back regularly on the air Mac; I will miss your podcast where you were able to speak without censorship. It was a must listen every week and I plan on sticking with you and Parkins (Two Dans...WOW!).

Im not much into gay porn but watching Bernstein suck your dick after the bullshit he pulled when you left last time was unusually gratifying. He's a fucking weaselly little prick.

Seems like you're free for the first time in a long time.
I got a distinct impression that Harry held back your show at ESPN.
I also got the impression that speigs held you back at SCR.
Now you got your guy.
So far it sounds good.

This could be a new beginning for SCR.

Sports talk has sucked for almost 10 years.

I'm ready for a new beginning.

Fuck yeah Mac.

Glad I’m not alone in looking forward to sports radio again.

Also, a good thank you would be to shout out the board and help get posters to call and email in.

Mac, essentially would you agree that deCastro is more than likely referring to this board as the "blog" he talked to Phil Rosenthal about? I can't think of another place that talks about Chicago sports talk ad naseum besides for Larz/Chicagoland Radio Media, and his website has been on hiatus for almost a year.

I do think that AM radio should be programmed for 40+ year olds at this point, but I do also agree that having a youthful Parkins is so important as it reminds us how we may have used to be in some ways. Wishing you the best, in my opinion, afternoon drive was in need of major changes to stay competitive with the up the dial offering, so I think you guys have a good shot to do well. I think both you and Parkins are skilled enough that you could work with anyone at the station, quite honestly, but I really do think I will enjoy this pairing particularly. I find all the programming changes exciting, as I was getting pretty bored with the old lineup to be honest (with the exception of the morning show and Les, but I am sleeping while he is on.) What do you think of HawaiiYou's suggestion to bring back Murph?

If deCastro was truly listening to this board there would be a new update anchor and that abomination of a weekend show would be long gone.

Happy you're back, been listening on and off over the years since you were producing Chet.

Three questions/comments:
1. What happens to the podcast? I liked the mix of monologue and the long-form interviews that could last more than the traditional one radio segment. I didn't like Oak Park Vandy, but I never have, but I get that he's your buddy and I'd just wait for the next episode. Even a single long-form 25-40 minute interview 3x/month in podcast form would be interesting, and now you'd be able to get a sponsor.

2. When Bruce Wolf was on your podcast the first time, he (justifiably in my opinion) ripped into Dan B. for never having a woman co-host or guest host all the time Terry was out sick, given his other comments on social issues. When you triumphantly go to cottage for some fishing after the first ratings book comes out, do you think you'd be able to improve on that? Or is the landscape just too difficult right now? [And Julie doesn't count, she can't even read an update straight half the time.]

3. Can we now get rid of those horrible "Danny Mac on Sports" commercials where you weren't allowed to mention any specific team or player names? That was excruciating, please never do that again.

Mac, it sounds damn good to hear you back on the Score. Parkins sounds like he'll be able to hold his own...which will really make the show go.

Isn't the proper term "grammar nazi"? Who the hell says "grammar dick"?!

Also, props on the show pot. Great fuckin idea, and like I and others have said, you have a partner much more conducive to it now I think.

He stated on the air that the podcast was going on a hiatus. He is doing one more show and then it will be on the shelf for awhile. He wanted to do one that was non sports related, but entercom did not want him to for now.

Make good with Mike Murphy and maybe i'll listen more.

Bernstein needs to go. The Bernstein era was the most sterile and mediocre era on the score. Now w/ the shakeup, get some young blood in there to engage the masses.
