This has been really good, at least this segment. Some good honesty from both Parkins and Grote about the show breakup, Cubs beat to Bears beat, Mark's drinking, etc.

He said it had nothing to do with booze, went to mitch to discuss his contract, and mitch demoted him. I think that’s it.

He just said he thought Mitch was joking when he told him and that he was stunned. He wouldn't get into the specific reasons why.

What if someone asked, "Did Pat Hughes have anything to do with you being taken off the Cubs beat?"

Grote should have gotten the midday show. Would have been a better foil for Bernstein than Lakeview McBro.

But that's not what deCastro wanted ... and Mitch obviously didn't have the stones to protest any of these recent moves.

A theory I fully subscribe to .

What do you theorize was the reason Hughes wanted Grote gone?

What was the question that got the "Can't Do It"?

Weird.

If Goff said he knew about it on Friday, are we really going to believe that Parkins didn't find out about the changes until the following Monday?

I'm calling major bullshit on that one.

There was some theorizing that they didn't get along because Grote was too wacky or edgy for Pat. I never bought that. I think it's just that Mitch didn't think Grote could handle play-by-play. I know they had Joniak filling in.

I absolutely think Pat Hughes got Grote off the Cubs job. Said it here at the time. Why? Just not his type of guy. Zack is more of his type. Straight broadcaster type. No personality. That's who Hughes wants to work with. Especially the pre and post guy. Because Pat is threatened that that guy will out shine him and take his job. The color guy can be a little goofy in Pat's mind since he's no threat. He's just the ex ball player.

Shep found out before Parkins.

They didn't want one host to know and the other not. They told them both at the same time.

Well so far the theorizing is just me and Beardown so you probably don’t want to go to the window with that  but yeah, what CH and Beardown said .

By the way, Parkins, I am a fan.

Thanks for adding further color on air.

That's why you are so good and you are helping bring back SCR to its roots - The Fan - you are a stand-up guy.

Also, as to the "why would I lie?" question, I would think that the answer to that would be that Parkles had a party after the Friday show and was rubbing elbows with a bunch of dudes affected by the move.

That has Leery written all over it.

Parkins also said something interesting. He said that there are texters and social media people that think he master mind the change at the SCORE. But he also said there are people at the SCORE that think he master minded it. A caller asked him who those "SCORE people" are and he said "Can't do it".

Larry is obviously one of them.

For the record, I absolutely don't think Parkins had anything to do with the changes. He's too young and just started at the SCORE. No way he has any pull.

One thing that listeners think he master minded it. Another thing that SCORE people think that he made the change. To be in the business and not realize he has no pull means those SCORE people are stupid. It also means there are people at the SCORE that still hate him. Larry leading that hate.

I doubt Parkins actually knew of the coming changes, but the proximity of his entrance into the market to the changes, as well as the fact that he was getting a promotion out of the deal, of the kind last gotten by Boers and Bernstein after they toiled in middays, meant that people would assume he was advised of them at the very least, if not responsible for them.

I will buy the technical answer that he didn't 100% Know For Certain that the changes would occur until Monday, but c'mon.

1. BBForever predicted changes at the station months before this. People at the station did not know everything, but they knew that it involved Mac - I know that for a fact;

2. Mac had Parkins on his podcast well before this, so they obviously did some talking out of school. I can't see how this news waits till Monday (uh, a simple "Hey, would you like to work with me?" had to happen); and

3. The station had brought back Mac through Webb commercials and then weekend stuff well before the announcement.

Good. They need to think that. Let them think that. Parkins - if you're reading this, mark names. If you don't watch your back over there, they'll kill you.

Let us not forget the Saturday show with Mac and Parkins a couple months before the change.

Grote said that when Eddie Vedder was a guest, he joked to Pat that he and Eddie were "BFFs", which alarmed Pat...until the following commercial break when Grote explained it was not something dirty as Pat had thought.

Parkins also said his daily jack-off record was 6.
