College basketball is over, so that excuse for the incessant gambling talk on this show will no longer suffice. Even yesterday, Parkins asked Len Kasper if he should bet the under because of the weather in Cincinnati.

Stop. Talking. About. Gambling. So. Much. Freaking degenerates.

Gambling is mostly about predicting scores and winners/losers, so it is not far afield from the actual games. Gambling chatter fits in nicely with talking about sports.

In your example, Parkins is essentially asking how the weather will factor into the outcome of the game.

No. Gambling is glorious

They should talk about gambling as those who took their advice would've made bank. They had the 2 National Championship contenders.

Gambling is relevant as ultimately you are talking about what the expected outcome of the game is and why you think it will or won't be that way. It's a gateway into deep analysis of the game without boring sabermetrics.

I've said before that I enjoy shows when they have Vegas "insiders" on talking about what they see and and how Vegas thinks. You're giving Parkins and Mac too much credit that their gambling content is in any way insightful. It's usually nothing but meatball gambling talk. For the shit Mac gets for not caring about certain sports, it sure seems Parkins may suffer from the same thing if he didn't put action on games to get him to watch.

JLN's obsession with Mac&P's gambling talk is worse than Mac's obsession with people who switch seats at games.

Masters wagers. Is Tiger worth laying down some sawbucks for?? Maybe they put Rozner on as a segment guest.

Odds to win Stanley Cup or NBA Finals.

Kentucky Derby is in a month.

The show pot is blooming, no way they stop this train.

Yes, it's kind of like the argument of fundamental analysis vs technical analysis in guessing the direction of the stock market or other events. You can study the scientific fundamentals to try to figure out when Old Faithful will erupt next or you can simply observe when it does and use the historical patterns to predict the future. Some people swear by the former and insist it's the only way to truly understand what is happening, but the latter can be just as accurate in many cases.

Gambling talk is fine. It was the NCAA tourney. So it was appropriate.

Now it's just baseball. Nobody gambles on baseball that much. So they will tone that down.

I want more HOOKERS and DRUGS talk.

Also, you have to enjoy JLN complaining about too much talking about a specific topic.

I'd agree if we're talking about someone else's fantasy team. But I enjoy hearing about great covers or just miss parlays. Plus much of the chatter is prospective, so they are just laying money on the outcome of a game that most of us care about.

Exactly. Listening to someone else talk about gambling is just plain boring. Immediate zone out time.

This is always well and good, and the pub helps invigorate the bored and the Wisemen's pockets and whatnot...so it's all good.

I would love to eavesdrop on the noob that fires up the google machine and locates this place for the first time. I wish all were as gung ho as my guy Lipidquadcab/Home5licE was when he first posted on the Bikerboard way back when.

If a Springsteen concert served that most perfect delicacy, the pimiento sandwich, they'd be set.

Besides the Sox and Bears if I didn’t gamble I’d barely watch any of the other sports
