Well they had a segment with what sounded like Kevin Butler (some potential there!) And some goofy broad talking way too fast and too much about some whiskey they're selling. She was super annoying and I... i just had to turn off the radio. I didnt switch to XRT like I normally would because I was terrified they might be talking about whiskey.

I was driving home from work and Butler was on, then this white woman started yammering about whiskey for black people or something like that, and I ended up purring on the last inning of Braves-Padres and then I switched to drunk uncle Brent on VSIN for the rest of my drive.

Show me the way
To the next whiskey bar
Oh, don't ask why
Oh, don't ask why

For if we don't find
The next whiskey bar
I tell you we must die
I tell you we must die
I tell you, I tell you I tell you we must die

I caught 5 minutes of it, she wasn't white.

So this was a paid segment? Like Musberger? It seems like every guest is just an infomercial now.

Definitely a paid segment

It was a paid segment for sure. I'd rather that segment than 6 minutes of the usual trash commercials.

The show is excellent overall.

The guy trained Jack Daniels. Don't you get it?

Seems like a clever way to sell time but not have to interrupt the show with recorded ads, especially if they can make the live ad interesting. WGN does a lot of ads like these in addition to recorded ads (WTF!) but they're boring as hell and still make you turn the station.

years back i think the smoking gun or someone dug up an old contract for those nude/porno cards that howard stern used to incessantly bring up his terrestrial radio show. the contract had specific language for working the cards into the "entertainment portions" of the show, which is something that would be at a premium nowadays since i don't think there's too many "entertainment portions" of the howard stern show over the last few years.

I didn't quite understand that either. But the woman was trying to tell a story and making a big deal about somebody being black, and she was sufficiently annoying and not talking about sports so I eventually PTFB.

The whisky is named for a famous black distiller. He was the guy that taught Jack Daniels how to make whisky. It’s the only spirit named after a black guy.

The Mike North Morning Show used to run segments where Fred would "interview" a celebrity by asking scripted questions to pre-recorded answers as part of an EPK. It was pretty sad.

In my younger days I would drink it straight from a bottle.

My oldest son now mixes it with ginger ale as his drink of choice.

It almost seems like a generational (& community I thought) drink. Given that there is no ad money behind it.

They tossed a little bit of cash at the Maple and Apple brands when they introduced them. They now have vanilla and mesquite as well.
