Parkins is dumbfounded that the Sony Watchman existed and thought Mac was making it up. It came out in 1982 and was discontinued in 2000. Parkins isn't that young.

Parkins also told a story of seeing rapper T.I. at Cornell University which struck me as very Parkins-y/McKnight-y/Bernstein-y.

Yeah. Parkins is roughly my age, and old school B&W portable TVs were a staple in our bedrooms as youngins. We also would take a small, battery powered TV in the Astro Van when we drove to Florida and would watch what we could as we traveled thru the bigger cities along the route.

parkins is good at radio... but can come off really badly on other topics... and his math skills are embarrassingly bad.

My brother had one of these. He would save all of his money and buy all the newest gadgets. He bought his own camcorder in high school
as well as a laser disc player and he was the only person I ever knew to own the Phillips CD-I gaming system. Not sure if anyone else here
ever played that one. It was pretty high tech at the time but never took off as I think Playstation was not too far behind it. He had Burn:Cycle
on it back in 1994 and it was the coolest game I had seen up to that point for home play.

I don’t know...this show is increasingly a hard listen. Parkins seems to be striving to be the smartest guy on sports radio. It’s SPORTS RADIO!! It isn’t supposed to serious and/or thought provoking radio. Other shows in other cities understand this. Even when Mac is on the show, it seems like he has a couple thoughts and drop ins and that’s it. When this show was announced, I hoped that Mac would drive and Parkins would be the side car. This show makes me miss Mac being Unsupervised.

Mac hasn't had an original thought in a decade or more and is just marking the days off on the calendar until he can comfortably retire.

Mac has immense talent, but he is disengaged, uninspired and uninterested. Goff has thus far proven correct about Mac, who in his current incarnation amounts to nothing more than a dinosaur toiling in a dying medium. Depressingly, Mac seems at peace with this scenario, content to be writing his own professional epitaph as the glory days of a once-great radio station fade deeper into the recesses of the city's collective memory.

I never knew they existed...

I was just really excited when my Filipino friend showed me his watch that had a video game on it. Francis always had the cool stuff in 5th grade.

I heard like 15 minutes of the show today and they were interviewing Len Kasper. Len sounded like the last thing he wanted to do was an interview with Mac and Parkins.

I grabbed my dad's Watchman when I was packing up his storage unit after he died in 99.
I had that thing on in my office the morning of 9/11.
Have no idea what happened to it after that.

Mac solo or a new partner makes sense. Parkins or Julie will be next to be shown the door.

Parkins a few weeks ago said Happ is a better defensive player than almora. He loses all credibility saying something that stupid.

I had this and use to travel with it quite often.

I remember once I was on a plane @ a stop in Kansas City. I had the aisle seat and a farmer type man and his 8 year oldish kid sat next to me. I pulled out that walkman and those 2 thought it was some kind of bomb. I turned it on during the stop and they were amazed at it.

It was a pretty advanced and cool gadget for it's time.

Mac sounds uninterested when it's not football season? Well, not like Stevie Wonder could have seen that coming or anything.
