Generally professional broadcasters try to do a professional show. Many young broadcasters seem to miss this but I suspect it’s not just broadcasting. |

I'll pass on anything with Herron since he pulled the race card on Shep during baseball season. Herron says "when I played in the NFL". Herron played 1 game in the NFL. |

Hub annoys me at times but Herron is really good talking football. I would love to hear him and Mannelly have a show during the football season. |

Hub just said the Cubs "invented the Superstation"?.. and that's why they have so many coast to coast fans. I agree with the latter point. Sorry, Hub. The Braves invented the Superstation. However, the Cubs and their massive national fanbase were the most successful as a result of the Superstation. |

WGN was already broadcasting the Cubs to a huge market when Turner started Broadcasting. |

"With the advent of C-Band satellites, Ted Turner came up with the idea of distributing his Atlanta, Georgia independent station WTCG (channel 17; later renamed WTBS, and now WPCH-TV) via C-Band to the entire country (and beyond). WTCG, which had already been distributed via microwave to cable systems in much of the Southeastern United States, became the first national superstation; Turner's idea was soon copied by companies who applied for satellite uplinks to distribute other independent stations, including WGN-TV (channel 9) in Chicago, Illinois..." |

I found the above quote about "Superstations" which also stated that WTBS Superstation launched in 1976 and WGN Superstation launched in 1978. No doubt there are more Cub fans nationwide than Braves fans as a result of the "Superstation". |

Day games were a huge help too obviously. A west coast kid isn’t going to watch a Braves game because it’s starting at 9 Pacific. |

Like most here, I am part of the "Cubs After School Generation". Usually, you could catch the afternoon Cubs game in about the 7th inning after school back in the day. I remember doing MANY homework assignments while watching the Cubs. Later, have dinner and then watch the Sox on WSNS-44. I love baseball and am a fan of both teams. However, I favor the Sox more than Cubs. Getting back to my original post, Hub was incorrect. The Cubs didn't invent the Superstation, the Braves did. However, in my opinion, the Cubs are far more successful than any team capitalizing on the exposure of its product appealing to the masses. |
