I might actually tune in for a little while.

Just two weeks to control the spread.

The show will be exponentially better without Laurence. He is just awful.
Bad takes, fake tough guy, referencing athletes by stupid nicknames, praising every guest as great and thorough, telling stories of his athletic accomplishments that are not true, fake laughter, etc.

Could this happen in two weeks ?

"I'd like to take a moment to delve into something personal if you'll indulge me.
I preface this by saying this has nothing to do with the afternoon show or anybody associated with it, I want to be clear on that. But I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I have decided I will be leaving the Score .Super Bowl Sunday I discussed this with my family then spent two glorious weeks in Arizona, and I'm at a point where I don't want to be nailed down to one place anymore. You won't be rid of me, I will continue my House of L podcast but this will allow me to spend more time in Arizona and the occasional visit to Montreal without being obligated to the responsibilities of a daily radio program. A lot of planning, thoughts and prayers were involved in this decision and I hope this is more of a reset than a goodbye. - Laurence Holmes"

This is fiction of course and doubtful it would happen but what if?

I miss listening to sports talk - all I can stomach these days is a bit of the addled Mully and his pompous partner Haugh in the morning (where, this morning, I did hear a promo for the Larry-less afternoon show with Grote and distinctly heard meatpants lean on the "FUN" they'd be having). Anyway, the midday and afternoon shows have turned into a strict no-fly zone for me, and I don't really know what happens in the non-game evenings anymore.

That said, I figured I'd also give this a run today. Fired up transition to hear everyone screaming over themselves, so decided to try back later.

I just did, and meatpants sounds like a different and way more annoying version of his smarmy self - is Larry the cause? Admittedly I have never ever liked him, but his pairing with Sparkins seemed to dull his cheesy, pseudo-intellectual and vibey approach to broadcasting...at least a bit. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Grote, but don't mind him - that said, holy crap tuning in just now to hear meatpants "teach" Mark about the reality of the Cubs spending (and Grote ever so graciously thanking Sir Meat for the lesson) brought me back to the days of not being able to listen to anything he was involved in.

Anyway, the thought of being able to drop-in and listen to some sports talk in the afternoon (for at least two weeks) was quickly squashed.

Wait, Larry "bounces" the same week LTG does?

As I've always said, Sir is more like Les than he wants to believe. He loves the Score and has to be on the air. He will die in his 80s while employed at the station.

He must be very exhausted from talking about the Bears/NFL for 4 months straight and switching shows. Exhausting work. Exhausting.

Doesn't he do Sundays during the season, too? Add up the extra hours and he's certainly entitled to a long vacation during the Sports Dead Zone. Besides, no one here likes him anyway.

He's entitled to whatever vacation days he gets. The guy has been an employee at the station for over two decades.

Also, you could never accuse Sir of not being a hard worker.

I heard Brad Biggs say that Eric Bieniemy say he couldn't give a press conference until spring time because he would be doing filmwork and working on free agency until then.

Dan Wiederer says he doesn't have a social life in January because the Bears are searching for a coach.

Holmes thinks that talking about football is exhausting and he had to watch a bad team play which made it even worse.

These people are living in another world than I do (and most people) where I need to multi-task, deal with on-going issues, actually be responsible for things rather than just discussing them. I'm not sure Wiederer can walk/chew gum at the same time if he can't keep track of what the national writers are reporting on the Bears (we know the local guys aren't going to have much scoopage) or make a few calls to his sources....

It's crazy to me. Lawrence is entitled to whatever vacation he has, no issue with him going, just find it funny that some of the people in this industry think watching football is tough work compared to most.
