Did North try to hire you, Mac? Did you tell him he couldn't afford you? What do you think about these guys selling air spots for their pay? When do you think this will go under?

Mac is calling North, not the other way around.

Mac? Did you get a call? or is North not offering any money? Just benefits?

To the question "what do I think of it?".....

The idea is interesting. Many of us complain there is a high volume of bad product out there. The Webbio casts offer an alternative to that. Maybe it just will be one more source for bad programming, but it is more product nonetheless.

David Hernandez is a good business man. Jeff Schwartz is a good marketing man and excellent at rubbing shoulders. Mike always has been generous to those who work for him. I can think of worse foundations than the aforementioned trio of fellas.

To the question "did he call you?".....

The answer is yes. We met twice to talk about the Webbio. Mike wanted a commitment from me far too early in the game. I'm in conversations with four outlets... perhaps pared to three by middle of next week. It made no sense to make a commitment before exploring all my options and that process is a lengthy one.

I think the Webbio is capable of having some impact. Midday radio is getting the most ears these days, which means people are using the internet more than ever and that over-the-air product is being gashed. Mike's Webbio is another avenue to keep people from terrestrial outlets. I wish him well.

I guess it matters how people commute. In a car; maybe drive-in shows. On a train/bus, podcasts/iTunes? I've seen more radios on in the office mid-day than in mornings/later afternoons. Meetings and trying to get things done before going home may affect that.

Ratings and the counting of ears has always been too much a hocus-pocus for my tastes. Someone can argue that morning is king and in my house, because I'm a radio guy who listens to the newsradio getting dressed, I can empathize. But same for afternoon commute home.

One day, we'll learn that "Hit & Run" has had the real high ear count all along, and what'll we all do with ourselves? Not enough space on the ledges in radioland for that scenario...

the fact that people are listening...or will listen at work is one thing. The fact that companies can & do have policies that do not allow this as an accepted use of company resources is another. Doesn't take much for companies to block users from listening to streaming radio...or whatever. That has to be a risk that is considered as well...then again it is North.

I hope he fails miserably...and I most certainly do not wish him well.
