Mac's onetime former teammate at the old "AM LOOP", Kevin Matthews, said before he left Chicago that the future of radio lies on the Internet. Right now, whether that means Mac says thanks, but no thanks to The SCORE or any other traditional radio station in favor of joining his former SCORE teammates Mike North, Jesse Rogers & George Ofman or his former ESPN 1000 teammates Jonathan Hood & Chet Coppock at ChicagoSportsWebio.com remains to be heard. I'm not so sure the future of radio is via satellite either. While Howard Stern signed that huge deal with Sirius Satellite Radio in 2006, it hasn't exactly translated to more listeners. I mention this despite the fact if you buy a new car these days, Sirius and/or XM are now one of the extras you get, and before the much-publicized merger with the two satellite radio providers, subscriptions aren't anywhere where they should be. There has also been talk of bankruptcy involving Sirius/XM as a result of big time debt since the merger became a reality.

Satellite had a window of opportunity, that I feel is closing, as Wifi/WiMax becomes more ubiquitous.

If I were satellite, I'd have a web presence. Much like radio has a web presence.

"Looking forward to going fishing in my $15000 boat,Chicago!"
"Open a bottle of Jack, smoke a nice Cuban & have a big piece of meat,Chicago!"

What, these comments on the air is not what the average listener want's with
their sports yammerin'??

I just want a guy talking sports without the "tude" and the talking down to the
listener BS. Between Mac & B&B,it has become an epidemic. The younger guys have
picked some of it up as they try to find their way in broadcasting. It sucks and needs to change. Maybe that's why MVP's "vanilla" hosts are "killing" in the ratings.

I spotted Ed Volkman (of Eddie and Jo-Bo fame) texting Mac on Saturday night while I was down in Nashville.

Eddie and Mackey on WGN overnights.... YA BABY!!!

In all honesty, I did have a serious case of mullet envy. Eddie was really working the Kevin Matthews schtick good too: jeans, sportcoat, mullet and sunglasses at night.

STU? Really... taking an innocent picture at a sushi bar, as I sat there bored to death in Nashville waiting for my sushi?

Would it have been better if I had snuggled up against him, shoved my left hand up his ass and had somebody snap a picture.... like this guy:

As I don't beleive in ratings because a self proclaimed expert once told me they are flawed, but by chance if they are somewhat correct, then the Score needs a kick in the ratings ass and Mac has his ass kicking boots ready.

I think Mac tried to turn it down 'a bit' on some topics as he was part of the ESPN machine and we have seen what happens to those who cross the machine, or even question it, such as Van pelt getting suspended for saying bad things about Bud.

That June 18th Live show from Sluiggers will be good drinking.
