While I have enjoyed Mr. Spiegels addition to the Macfest and I anticipate I will enjoy it much more once Mac stops dropping doses of X into Spiegels coffee, I must remind Matt that AB steaks is a sponsor and to question the value of a $129.00 Bone is Rib Eye is a No no or did the X just kick in?

Without such sponsors we will hear more Kars for Kids commercials and might never get a chance to taste such a fine cut of meat at a Bears Tailgate or some other AB sponsored event.

Mathew, dig deep and send the old man the best meat he ever had and then get him on the air to talk about it. OWN IT!

I want to be real, always. I am the poor guy, Mac is the Mr. Monopoly with cash hanging out of his pockets. My honest reaction was perhaps not the most appropriate for impending and still hopeful sponsorships.

At least I can afford to send Pops the 6 ounces of Truffle Butter for $49.99.

Still would have loved to see Mac's face when Spiegs gave the "Whooooaaaa" $129 for 2 1/2 pounds of beef????

1. I have ordered from AB and while expensive, it was top notch. Maybe best steak I ever cooked.

2. Go over the Treasure Island, get some ground lamb and have yourself a Lamb burger with some Tsatsiki sauce, Lamb is cheap, yes high in fat, only takes minutes on the grill. Excellent Stuff!

I was thinking the same thing, except that maybe Matt was playing devil's advocate and it was Mac's job in the copy to "win him over." But that clearly wasn't true... so it's not a good idea to say a sponsor's product is too expensive? ;)

yeah you could go to Gibsons, pay for valet parking, get the exact same steak expertly cooked along with all the sides and a couple cocktails, all for the same price.

Quick point of clarification: According to the catalogue, the double bone rib roast referred to for $129 is 2.5 lbs and is intended to serve several people. Still not cheap, but certainly quality and not the most expensive dinner in the city, as described.
