Cubs and Sox both win the division this year.

Mark it down.

I think they'll both make the playoffs. Not so sure about the Division winners though.

With as crappy as both divisions are, you really think the wildcard will come from them?

There's a lot of baseball to be played... With drug suspensions, injuries, and suicidal murdering Iranian mistresses running around the country - who knows?

With the way the 2 teams have played over the last 4-6 weeks, it would very much surprise me if the Cubs win that division. Not quite as much of a surprise if the Sox win it.

I'm as much a die Sox White fan as they come but I do not expect them to make the playoffs. The only way they do is if the pitching holds up and I don't see that happening. From the start of June, John Danks has carried a WHIP lower than 1.00. Unsustainable!

Oddly as a Cubs fan, I agree.

I guess I am a Cubby realist. This team blows at the time when the entire division blows - they might luck into the playoffs but so what? Only to be followed by a quick exit to the Dodgers, Phils or whoever?

If they are going to do anything, it has to start TODAY.

Otherwise, bring on Cutler Camp

Let me clarify by saying it would also not surprise me if both teams miss the playoffs.

Ditto - I find myself agreeing with you more and more frank.

I might have to jump ship to the Frank Coztansa ALS club - lol.

When Gloopy and SID jump on you, I got your back! ha ha

That's a lot more likely.
I feel like at any time though, the Cubs could just snap off 20 of 25. It's just so damn weird that they're not hitting. I mean most of the starters are 50 or better points below their normal averages. If one were to believe that they'd eventually get their average numbers, they're going to be monsters for a while.
On the other hand they might just suck all year.
The Sox on the other hand, I just feel like they are playing to their skill level right now. They're not playing into their strengths, it seems. But I don't watch a whole lotta Sox.

If the Sox get a starting pitcher before the deadline they will win the division. The cubs will not win the division.

Actually, I agree.
Now, will I get to blame KW if they can't get that pitcher or do I have to blame Sox fans who didn't buy tickets?

If today's game at Wrigley Field was any indication, Joe Buck & Tim McCarver might want to get another FOX Sports microphone ready for Lou Piniella to return to the broadcast booth. Besides, if the Cardinals get Roy Halladay as rumored, nobody's catching the Cardinals in the N.L. Central...Nobody.

That has not worked since 1945.

Did he give any reasons for this prediction or was it just another unsubstantiated blowhard ( ) effect-driven statement on Mack's part? Did he at least dress it up so when he said this he sounded like a young Chet Coppick?

Bob, worry about your own fucking team, for Christ's sake.

The Cub will not win the division or the wildcard. However, they will not be the most expensive team to miss the playoffs. I think the "Not-So-Glorious-As-of Late" Yankees have that honor.

No matter how you slice it, Hendry should be launched, because he is a fucking boob.

I just wonder if he made those statements, so they wouldn't have to do a 4 hour Bears show in July.

If he was right, then he could always say remember when and people wouldn't give up so quckly, but I guess he was wrong and they were pretty much all Bears in mid-August.
