Post subject:  Is Spiegel a Jagbag?

I was listening yesterday and there was a guy who called about the All-Star game voting. He was a little aggressive on the phone and his point was that fans voting has no place in determining the reserves of the game. He was trying to make a point and he asked Spiegel about who he voted for in the All-Star balloting. Spiegel made some ridiculous comment—something sarcastic like "Thanks for having me on your show." Finally, he coughed up that he voted for Derrek Lee. Then just as the guy was about to finish his point Spiegel hung up on him. Did anyone else catch this and is this typical from Spiegel? I thought only Murph and Bernstein hung up on callers.

The caller's therapy session will be paid for by Mike North.

Yes, I guess Mac and mgmt. this so to. The only show I am aware of where the co-host name is not in the title of the show.

Spiegs actually said that he had to go and the caller had a ton of time to make,

That kind of call would have been better on Hit and Run when they TALK baseball. Only George would push callers to 30 second calls so he could hear himself talk for 20 mins.

I will always stick to the fact the callers made the Score and they make Sports radio what it is. Good callers, crazy caller, stupid callers, boring callers, pissed off callers, funny callers (Even if they didnt mean to be funny) is what makes Sports talk radio great. Some people in that business contiue to forget that.

The fact that he voted for Lee at first base makes him a Jagbag...

Hardly. An Albatross vote would've earned Spiegs the title.

When they made a movie about sports talk radio, they made it about a caller, not a host.

Homer-ish, but not jagbag worthy. That's my point.

Those stats, while solid, weren't his numbers at the time of the discussion. You're comparing his season-ending stats to where they were around the time of the All-Star Game. Minutia? Perhaps. But that's what I do.

If Spiegel was being a homer, wouldn't he have voted for Youkilis.
