Mac described him as a "fake good guy". Have they had some type of incident? What's the story here?

I ran into sutcliffe about 3 years ago at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. I talked with him, and he was nothing but "cool" and nice. He wasn't slurring his words either...so I assume he was not hammered.

The time he was in San Diego with Matt Vasgersian in the booth, I could've sworn Rick Sutcliffe was as wasted as Tommy Chong or Sean Penn's character "Spicoli" in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". "That's my skull. I'm so wasted!" Needless to say, that's one of the funniest pieces of audio I've heard in recent years...

No, I never had a dustup with Sutcliffe. And I wouldn't just blast him for having a fondness for chemicals. Me have history of chemical likey, too. Just interpret how you wish. Guys who do charity work and sell being a nice guy aren't always as they appear.

Speaking of that whole segment, Mac; this is what damages your show. Your co-host broadcasting he listens to the competition. Between that and the name dropping of Jurko, Carm, and Harry; it makes the listener think you'd rather be there than here. Tell Speigs to stop talking about ESPN already.

And here I thought you'd be the one talking too much about them; but Matt can't go an hour without mentioning ESPN or an on-air personality.

You obviously have something that makes you believe he is not as he appears. If you are going to call him a fake good guy on the air, then step up and share why you feel like that, otherwise why not just keep that opinion to yourself?

What I know I cannot prove. A slander or libel suit is not something that's appealing to me.

As for mentioning the competition... it's never been a big deal to me. It's not everybody's style, but I won't operate as if other stations don't exist. Spiegel, I found out on the air several weeks ago, feels the same way. Not really a right or wrong here... just a choice of style. We're choosing to be real.

Don't you know that keeping it real can go horribly wrong?

It just seems really weak to me for you to say he is a fake good guy, and then not be able to say why you feel like that. If you cannot prove it or do not know it for sure, then why say anything?

This seems like something the Mac I have enjoyed listening to for years would call one of his guests or co-hosts out on.
