It looks as though Mac and Speigs beat S & W in the ratings race in August. This could be the beginning of the end for S & W.

Well, I am a bit surprised but congrats Mac.

Beginning of the end for S&W... that's just dumb.

This happens almost every time ratings come up...worthless post without #s, and even a link would be nice...

Even I as a charter member of the Mac fan club have to say that I wouldn't count S&W out of anything. It's a good month and something to build on, but this battle is far from over. The lunch with a legend with Wade was some of the best radio I have heard in a long time.

Congrats Mac.

You forgot the BOOM! lol.

I am not in the inner circle like Stu. I am still relegated to boat washing duty on the weekends.

Au contraire. Mac & Cheese again trailed Silvy & Waddle but by significantly less than last time. So they do have momentum in their favor. Will be interesting to see where fans go for Bears info. You know they'll be listening to M&H over M&M during Bears season. I'm guessing that Silvy & Waddle will draw more than Mac & Cheese during the all-important Bears season as the happenings in Mac's basement or patio are of much less import to listeners than what transpires on the gridiron. Sure, you might get a personalized shoutout from the whacko as he devolves but only the ESs of the world put any value in that.

So congrats to Mac & Cheese on the progress but they aren't there yet...still the #2 sports talk show from 9-1 in the market.

You can get this fine item at the Mackey store along with Kingfords and a full array of Allen Brothers tasty meat products. Don't be the last ALSer to show your Mac & Cheese ratings pride:

How is Mac being 14 and S&W being 15 add up to Mac still trailing???

Hey dickcheese as Mac has said so vociferously before, he is not on from 10-3. B&B crushed CJH down the dial and your numbers include that. Mac will confirm he is about ahlf point behind S&W but that is significantly better than the drubbing they took last month...so average those and then the September number sthat complete the quarterly book will tell all. Looks like a jumpball right now...lets see if Mac can pull it over the line.

Sounds like getting rid of Mac was a bad idea for WMVP.

That will cost you as it did me. But I'm sure Mac will confirm this.

That is clearly true but faint praise indeed. Three chimps locked in a room with two microphones and a transmitter would beat CJH...that is just unlistenable.

He didn't say anything about B&B being good, he said it was a mistake to get rid of Mac which it clearly appears to be now...

Two thumbs up to Mac & Spiegs for reviving middays on The SCORE. There seems to be a certain degree of on-air chemistry between the two since Mac returned to SportsRadio 670 in June. I can't say I'm surprised that the show is off to such a good start. Now if only WSCR would finally part company with Murph given the lack of available airtime for the Bleacher Bum these days...

Except... the report's demographic is the one that "doesn't matter" according to sportstalk wogs who have been known to visit here.

So one has to wonder what the "real" demographics' numbers say.

Its males 25-54 that is the key demo they are looking for. Interestingly, SCR always does better with women and 12-25s so they skew better on broader demographics. Larz will be posting Male/Female 25-54 demographics later but you'll still have the 10-3 vs. 9-1 difference. Mac & Cheese definitely made progress in August vs. July but they still trail albeit by a margin they could overcome quickly. I believe if they took 3 or 4 of the common suggestions from this board and really integrated them into the fabric of the show and worked a little harder they'd be able to do it. I wouldn't be listening because their individual and collective style bugs the shit out of me but they could beat S&W with a concerted effort.

Seeing you fall under this demo we would expect you have those numbers in hand and yourself in the other. Hey Handjob, you look stupider with every post so let the numbers come out before you make a bigger assclown out of yourself than you already have know it all.

A lot of White Sox baseball broadcast hours in that 10 to 3 time slot.

Magnus is correct. Between 9 and 1... S&W beat us by 2/10s of a point. No congratulations yet. Happy with the quick surge, but I'm not in it "to compete." In it to win it. And for another 10 years.

Isn't his irrelevant? I thought one month of ratings was equivalent to one period of a hockey game?

10 years? Are you planning on checking out early or sailing your yaht to your villa in Monoco to live out your years?

Post subject:  Re: August Ratings

August was likely the high water mark for WSCR's 10 am to 3 pm ratings for 2K9--after Perfect Buehrle, the Peavy and Rios trades, interest picked up in White Sox baseball. That's going away, one way or the other. And then the Bulls season starts in a month or so and instead of leaving their radios tuned to WSCR to catch the White Sox games and commentary, sports fans will be up at WMVP to keep up with Jan(n)ero Pargo and his Chicago Bulls.
