Meatpants keeps on saying that Jordan was a swingman. I have rarely ever heard this. Isn't Jordan considered a shooting guard almost exclusively? Wouldn't Pippen have been the player who would be considered the player to play multiple positions? He was good at pretty much everything but I seem to remember that he played almost exclusively with a point guard and Scottie Pippen as the small forward, Rodman/Grant, and a big, tall guy in the middle. I know he developed a deadly post up game for the last 3 titles but I always considered him the shooting guard. Am I right or was Jordan considered a SG/SF? |

depends on the definition of swingman and context of the comment. he played the point for a couple of months one time, though he handled the ball much of the time anyway. he would play the #3 at times to take account of matchups. but no, he wasn't what you typically think of as a swingman. |

I always think "swingman" is sort of like a backanded compliment, it kind of implies that a guy can play several positions, but none of them overly well. Stacey Augman? Jordan is in like a whole sub-category of SG, there hasn't been anyone really in his category in the history of the league. Dominant post-up, pull up, or drive to the hole guy, the total package. |
