Exclamation Moint wrote: The Meatpants Dilemma, in a wonderful microcosm, captured during the 11:00 segment. - Meatpants asks a reporter from SI if Pedro Martinez is a sure-fire, first-ballot HOFer. - The reporter's response, ostensibly, *Are you fucking kidding me? Of course he is. He's the best pitcher I've ever seen.* - Meatpants, backpedaling, fabricates that there's been debate (read: his uncertainty) about Pedro's Hall of Fame credentials because his career totals aren't that impressive, asks if Pedro's 5-year run of greatness makes up for it. - The SI reporter: *Seriously? Who would debate Pedro's credentials?* - Matt further backtracks, models his opinion after a smarter guy who disagrees with him (usually this is Bernstein) and thanks the reporter for educating the stupid (borrowing a theme from B&B, which he does quite liberally). And there you have it. No fabrication Boers has a ridiculous grudge against Pedro. They did a whole show of Berns vs Boers on Pedro as a hall of famer. Boers is the moron here. |

Wow. I never really knew this was up for debate. If I remember correctly, Sandy Koufax's career numbers aren't that astounding either |

I'm not the biggest B&B fan in the world - I endure them on the way home because they are better than CJH. But I have noticed of late a propensity by one or the other or both to let personal feelings and thoughts get in the way of player recognition/greatness. I can say without a doubt that I can't stand Joe Morgan but at the same time, I can fully recognize that he was one of the best 2nd basemen to ever play the game. It seems like B&B are always railing against the players that they don't like in an effort to diminish their careers. This is just the latest evidence. Meatpants needs to work on his interviewing skills - he needs to either fess up to it being a dumb question or stand his ground - not look to deflect blame. |

BTW Pedro's WHIP was 0.74 in 2000, pitching in the AL, at Fenway, at the height of the steroid era. Im just saying...he didnt fabricate the debate. It happened with Boers and Bernstein. He probably just trying to dig at Boers Pedro 2000 and Dwight 1985...best pitchers of my lifetime |

Mid 90's Big Unit was pretty nasty too. |

Wasn't baseball supposed to be Spiegel's forte? I am finally ready to admit this show blows because of him. Time to go back to the kid's table. |
