He's Awesome! The super bowl was completely on Lovie. Rivera had a great game as DC. And when his defense in SD was bad...it was obviously not his fault. Now that the defense is good, its completely due to the genius of Ron Rivera.

The Bears should have fired Lovie the day after the super bowl and made Rivera the Head Coach.

He is a Head Coaching legend that just hasnt gotten the chance.

Probably because there havent been any head coaching vacancies in the NFL since 2006.

Regardless of Chico, Mac is in full meatball mode today. The most egregious nugget:

He'd advocate the Bears trading Cutler for a 1st round pick :?

Coaches other teams have ludicrously chosen over Ron Rivera

Mike Singeltary
Rex Ryan
John Harbaugh
Mike Smith
Ken Whisenhunt
Tony Sporano
Todd Haley
Eric Man-genius
Jim Shwartz (is as big as yours)
Brad Childress
Tom Cable
Raheem Morris
Josh McDaniels
Steve Spagnolo

and thats leaving out the Tomlins and Caldwells who were chosen ahead of time.

A guy in my office just bought a pizza for everyone because he won a pool we run here. I didnt know he was doing it today.

But he got 1 large for 7 guys...little cheap if you ask me.

I'm a meatball. A true meatball would not advocate this because we love Cutler. This is stupidity or to get people talking.

Stupidity is in today. I cannot convince somebody that a dresser I'm selling cannot be taken apart.

It would be an interesting question if it was "call up St. Louis and offer Cutler for the #1 pick".

So you're gonna roll with Caleb Hanie at that point? There's not a QB good enough to draft #1 overall this year.

Not worth entertaining. They'd need to part with more picks.

No angelo would trade it for 2 lower first rd picks and try to repeat the magic that was Grossman/Haynes

Would you trade Culter for a 1 AND a 2?

If the answer is yes, the bears made a bad trade.

You can get a journeymen QB for a year and draft Dan Lefeavour or whoever is left with your pick in the third round. It would be tough but Suh may be worth it.

The #1 pick in the draft is pretty valuable.

I'm not saying I'd do it but it would certainly be something I'd consider.

I was gonna make the same point as BR. ( ). Suh is awful enticing. Instead of going ahead w/ Hanie, we could just call up Tampa and offer them Adams back for our #2 and take the best available QB at that spot.

I would definitely trade Cutler for a 1 and a 2. But I think right now the trade was pretty bad, so that clearly explains my answer.

Post subject:  Re: Meatball Alert

I wouldnt trade Cutler straight up for Suh, given the difference in the importance of their respective positions. I know Cutler was bad this year, but I dont think he's as bad as he played. Plus Suh is a complete unknown, although I think he will be as good as advertised.

This is a meatball thread....people trading Cutler after 1 year, especially considering the Bears just have him some new paper....

Problem with Cutler is, now you have to build a team around him, and there are a lot of pieces out of place. Problem with a first round draft pick is, Angelo doesn't use them well. We need a Herschel Walker-style trade: a team for a player.

I would take this thread seriously if Mac wasn't the one floating out a trade scenario.
